Except Chicago nor Hossa have any interest in parting ways.
That and we need Hossa more than him.

I'm still convinced that was more a move of desperation than a trade that was actually negotiated.

Rumors from just a few hours before the trade had it that Campbell to Columbus was a done deal until Campbell used his NTC to shoot it down.

I know. I just don't think using Luongo's contract as devaluement is fair when Chicago seems to have no problem handing them out themselves.

Gillis has said he's fine keeping both goaltenders for as long as necessary, and we aren't in any cap trouble for the forseeable future.

Fair enough, but when we already have 2 on our team we don't want to add another. And we would NEVER trade Hoss for Lu regardless of contracts and term.

Gillis may be fine keeping Lu, but Lu has already said he wants out asap and has zero interest in staying in VAN long term, that hurts the value, big time.

Getting Luongo would be huge for this team.

Saad and a first rounder along with Crawfail should do it.

Yeah, that would do it and the Canucks would accept in a heartbeat

Massive overpayment. Is massive a strong enough word?

Ballard(4.2 mil) bought out.

Raymond + Malhotra(just over 2 mil each) let walk

Possibly Booth(4.2 mil) gone as well, depending on how he performs this season.

We'll be fine. Besides, I think a team becomes willing to offer fair value for Luongo sooner rather than later.

To get somebody the caliber of Lu you obviously have to give up something in return.

I would be all for this move, personally. Or better yet, something around Leddy.

I don't see us interested in Leddy, as our top-4 is now set in stone, with Hamhuis, Bieksa, Edler, and Garrison. I do appreciate that you're willing to give up solid value. I know the Hawks are really high on Saad, I wouldn't mind swapping him for TT if that helps in any way.

Of course, our priority is getting top-6 forwards, so I personally hope Gillis targets the best impact player he can get, from any team, and use that as a base rather than a futures-based package.

You're unbelievable. Luongo is 34 and has not been good the last 2 seasons. I wouldn't offer any of the Hawks top 5 prospects for this guy, and that's not even mentioning 8 years left on his contract. Just ridiculous.

Hawks aren't parting with anyone right now. Hawks are 3-0-0 and things are going well.

But he is head and shoulders that much better then anything the Hawks have.

Who cares about age when right now he is in his prime. You play to win a Cup and not wait around and see if prospects work out or not. Getting Lu solidifies one of trhe Hawks biggest weaknesses and would make them the Cup favorite.

Its about winning a Cup, nothing more. I am not the person paying for his contract nor do I care when the Hawks pay people to deal with that part of the business.

Appears to me Luongo's prime was around 2006-07.
No thanks. His playoff performances the last few years leave a lot to be desired.

First of all, he is way past his prime. Not even starting in Vancouver anymore. If he was that good AND in his prime, he would be starting for his team right now.

Thats not his fault.

The Nucks trying to groom Schneider as a replacement for Lu will come back and bit them when all is said and done. His over ratedness has reached Edmonton Oilers as a legit Cup contender status. If a world class goalie such as Lu is actually being availible, you get him.

What has Corey Crawford done in the playoffs?
