Rangers/whoever part 2

Sorry for not setting the tone in the last rangers/whoever. Was my 1st trade proposal thread so hopefully this could help out a little better.

Untouchable: Lundqvist, Callahan, Kreider, Girardi

Flexible: McDonagh, Del Zotto, Staal, Stepan, Hagelin, and all other players and prospects.

Picks in 2013: 1 2nd, 3 3rds, a 4th and a 6th

Picks in 2014: a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th, and two 5ths

Once again sorry for the crappy thread before and lets see what you guys think.

NOTE: Please be reasonable whether w/ a block buster deal or a depth deal.

You have Kreider in untouchable and McDonagh in flexible. No. McDonagh is worth 10 Kreiders.

McDonagh is not flexible unless a ****ing superstar is coming back. He's by far our best defenseman.

I'd do this every day of the week. Keep Holmgren.

This isn't gonna work though. You're still not doing it right. Trade proposals need to be more specific. Team isn't good enough.

It has to be players or positions.

-Michael Del Zotto for Milan Michalek

-Value of Douglas Murray to the Rangers

-3rd line center to the Rangers

Those are proposals.

Staal + Stepan

Yakupov+Gernat+1st+Horcoff(can be bought out in the summer if needed, EDM retains maximum cap/salary).

It would help if you specified exactly what you're looking for in a trade.

I don't understand in what world a better, younger McDonagh is flexible and Girardi is untouchable. I wonder if he saw Girardi make the All Star game and thought that meant he's our best D-man. There are very very few I'd trade McDonagh for.

That's a great trade for the Rangers, no way Edmonton does that.

Relax, JB, you'll get the hang of it.

Now that you have a picture in your mind of what assets we have, what's untouchable and what's not (setting aside a debate about to what extent that really is the case), you need to

1. sketch out before hand an idea of who you want to target, and why does that player work for us;

2. figure out what other team who has that target under contract needs;

3. try to swap some of what we have and can afford to part with for some of what they need, hopefully enough of a win win so they will part with that target you want.

That's the approach conceptually in theory.

Filling in the blanks will take practice.

But don't sweat, you'll get there if you pay careful attention, consider what everyone says and the consider merits of their arguments fairly.

Good luck.
Third time's a charm.
