If I am MTL I wouldn't do this. Subban means a lot to the franchise, and they are more in need of D than they are a star winger anyways. Gagner is unwanted goods by both parties, Galchenyuk shows a TON of promise, and while the 2013 first could be a lottery pick that could be as good or even better, it could also not be a lottery pick, or the player less promising. Why throw away what looks great already for uncertainty and chance? The bottom line here is that the Oilers would be going after two players the Habs hold very near and dear to them, while offering Hall as the only enticing piece going back. Something like Hall+J.Schultz for Subban+Galchenyuk seems a lot more realistic.

I'll take a long shot at a Wild proposal.

To EDM:
Jonas Brodin
Charlie Coyle
Jason Zucker
2nd Or 3rd

To MN:
Taylor Hall
Sam Gagner
1st rounder

But considering the Wild's defense isn't that great as is I don't think either team would do this as the first rounder would probably be a lottery pick since Zucker and Brodin are borderline NHL ready and Coyle needs another year in the AHL.

Man I'd hate to lose Hall and Schultz, but to return Kesler and Edler, that's very hard to turn down.

I would turn Taylor Hall into our second line centre before I trade him for one.

But if that's the package you're offering, the return HAS TO piss off the other fanbase. So I'll bite....

Taylor Hall
Sam Gagner
2013 1st Rnd Pick

Alex Pietrangelo
David Backes

Yeah, Blues say no without thinking twice to that.

I don't know about giving a second round pick to a divisional rival, too risky

Krejci + Hamilton + Subban ???

Gives Boston Hall to play shotgun alongside either Bergeron or Seguin. Not sure where Gagner would fit in, and the 1st would presumably be in the top 5-10.

It's a ton of youth/value going both ways. But since a lot of the pieces have unknown longterm value, I'm sure one team or the other would look back and regret it.
Keep dreaming. Boston trades its top line center, 18yr old blue chip dman, and Team Canada WJC starter and 1st round pick M.Subban? For Hall and a draft pick? I omitted Gagner because he has absolutely no spot in Boston and is useless to the Bruins.

For ^that package I'd want Eberle + Nuge, Oilers can keep Hall

Edler has more value than Schultz- not debatable
Hall has = value to Kesler - can be debated either way
Ganger for a second- depends on what you think of the first one

HF would crash

Yikes on those last two. Edler for sure has more value than
Schultz but Kesler coming off two surgeries is nowhere near Hall's value and despite the hate on for Gagner on this site he is worth more than a 2nd.

I think that package fetches us OEL instead Yandle.

knew I was forgetting something, we also "threw" Luongo in. Luongo and a second for Ganger and the difference between Kesler and Hall (which isn't as much as some may think) is fair imo

That's not an offer that pisses the other team off...thats just a downright horrible proposal that shows you don't have any concept of value. The Blues would not even trade Pietrangelo for that

So we trade Hall for a 2nd line center? No wait a minute, Hall and Gagner? Oh wait and a 1st? For a 2nd line center? Is Malkin available and he'll only accept a trade to Edmonton or something? You don't trade Hall, Eberle, or Yakupov for a 2C. I'd think long and hard about Nail for Benn, but Benn is a #1 center on most teams in the league.

Value of Hall + Gagner + 2013 1st rounder?

Tambo's head on a platter and the next GM announcing Edmonton is going into another rebuild.

And also totally smash Edmonton's chances at ever landing a free agent in the next 15 years that means anything. Schultz picked Edmonton over 29 other teams when he was one of the hottest commodities, if they just turned around and traded him....That's beyond Mike Milbury type clownshoes

If it was any other UFA doing this you'd be 100% right, but since it's Schultz you are still mostly right, but it'd also be kinda poetic.
