God Daryl Katz is going to have such a great time going to games...

I hope our dressing room rivals the Sabres.

So the Rexall place lease is extended 2 years? or do the Oilers play in the Clare Drake for a couple seasons?

As long as the seats are bigger and the area in front of them more spacious, the concourse is massively huge, and they serve something other than the dogfood they currently present...I don't care about anything else.

**** this city.
The extension is half finished, and has nothing to do with the arena.

Let's not derail this thread so early. This isn't about LRT lines, it's about the arena.

Gary Bettman deserves some credit getting the two sides together. Just heard the interview on 630, both LaForge and Mayor Mendel praised and thanked Bettman for his work.

Bettman help kept Oilers in Edmonton once, and now the new arena deal.

Who said Bettman has done nothing for hockey? They meant Fehr, right!?

I bought mine just a few blocks away from the new arena location last November ('11) hoping this deal would get done eventually. One of my best friends is my realtor....he called me today to say I did good. Time will tell how good that will be.

What option did you want? The team moving or renovating Rexall for pretty much the same taxpayer cost, no kick ins from Katz and losing 2,000 seats instead of gaining 1,000? Because really, those were the other options in the situation.

Diotte deserves to be ousted just because he's an idiot. It has nothing to do with his anti-arena votes either.

great news... As for people disguisted by thus .. With Anthony Henday places like Sherwood pk\Leduc\ St.Albert are only a short drive away. MOVE OUT if you cant handle a new arena.

I never thought I would say this, but I'm quite grateful to Gary Bettman.

meh.. better now than 5 years from now

just checked the 3 options... funny how the arena cost is much higher in crappier models (B & C). The seating capacity remains the same yet jumps from A 480M, B 493M to 511M in option C..

You can tell what option Katz group was pushing for

There's a link on the Edmonton Journal website that shows the three options. If you can't find it, let me know and I'll post it on here later.

Yes, but future rising interest rates and a failing global economy may hurt prices. Just buy a nice place and dont spend more than you can afford.

Diotte has been excellent. He's shown great responsibility to the citizens of Edmonton. Wish he was the Millwoods rep.
