D was a little better this game. McDonagh was quietly good, Staal was excellent I thought, as was Del Zotto. Stralman contributed. I'd still like to see Girardi take it to another gear.

Pretty much everything I was going to post has already been said.
Three quick things:
1. Anyone going to eat some crow for the “Nash is an overrated 60 point player!!1! We don’t need him!” posts yet? The guy is one of the most talented players in the league and gives the Rangers a dimension they haven’t had in a long time.
2. Nice to see they are improving each game, even if they’re still not there yet. Also nice to see Gabby step up in a big way.
3. Hank we need ya.
Stars: Gabby, Nash, McD.
HM: Pyatt, Staal

Seriously, Pyatt has been a great addition. He fit in on the 2nd line nicely for Kreider (actually is a big concern of mine, though).

Yep, the Nash move should have led to a goal by Gaborik but he was skating too fast and overskated it. Hard to say anything about Gabs tonight though.

It's not even close, honestly. MDZ is invisible on D, which is great, and VERY visible on O.

Serious, all the NBC guys need to go choke on a fat one. They're a detriment to the sport of hockey, the integrity of the game and to the profession of sports commentating etc.

Feels good to get our first win since May. Gaborik netting a hat trick was huge. I think Gabby will score more than Nash this year if they're on the same line since Nash is such a dominant force and he draws defencemen to him, which won't bode well for other teams if Richards and Gaborik are given free reign

Yeah, Kreider really just doesn't look ready for the NHL.
Hopefully he proves me wrong...OR hopefully he gets sent down and finds the fire he had in the playoffs and comes back with a vengeance.

After the two losses, this team needed an explosion like Gabby's hat trick to get things going. I can't wait until Nash starts burying them. Oh boy!

Well hell, what did you expect was gonna happen when they were on a 4 on 2 rush? Anything short of a brick wall is not enough.

Back when we had Jagr I wanted Pyatt for our first line. He is very solid along the boards and playing tip drill rebound hockey.
He has scored 20 goals before. If he can chip in 10 for us this year its a solid addition.
Also, Hagelin scores a goal tonight if Rupp doesn't pull a dumbass move. Didn't affect the play at all.

Gabby and Nash were awesome, and I think the pairing of Staal-Del Zotto outplayed Girardi and McDonagh. I like Pyatt's grittiness and he added a much needed boost to the 2nd line. I didn't notice Eminger which is a good thing because it means he didn't screw up - he should def be playing over Bickel from now on.
Tonight's game was a step in the right direction, but there is still plenty of work to be done. The faceoffs, lack of discipline, the PP, the defensive coverage, the failed clears, etc. About half the team is still sleepwalking for parts of the game. Once they wake up and remember what their identity is for a full 60, they'll be in good shape.

Alot of them the D has been bad, but Hank has let in some really soft ones, usually he eats those up. I'm not worried he will get it together.

My big points from this game:
1. Gaborik and Nash looked great tonight. Very dangerous line right there.
2. Del Zotto has been looking really good.
3. Girardi NEEDS to hit the net more.
4. The Pyatt signing seems to really be paying off.
5. "Christopher Kreider, please report to Principal Tortorella's office. Thank You."
6. Hank needs to find his groove. Been very mediocre so far. Hopefully Marty is in net tomorrow.
