To fix a problem that's only going to last as long as Mike Smith is(?) injured, how much does Phoenix really want to pay?
Apparently OEL for Schneider has been proposed. And Luongo has been taking steam as well for OEL. Ugh

Any word on the injury?
If its short term labarbera can handle a few games

Honestly, MTL would probably give you Budaj for a 4th + backup goalie.

Budaj isn't an incredible starter, but he's not bad either. He's got experience starting and he posted some respectable stats last year one of the worst teams in the league (2.55, .915). Price will probably play 42 games this year, so having Desjardins or whatever backup Phoenix sends back wouldn't hurt that much.

What happened? Do we know the extent of the injury? If he's out for a couple of weeks I think the Yotes just ride it out.

Ben Bishop for Michael Stone seems like it would benefit both teams

Yotes get a potential #1 who can hold down the fort if Smith is out at any time.
Sens get a solid young defenseman with potential, who has a brother already in the system (Mark)

No we don't. Anderson is the only goaltender that is an "NHL caliber-starter" on the Sens. Robin has 13 NHL games on his resume, and Bishop has not proven he's anything more than a good young backup right now.

Bishop or Lehner would be a great idea to pursue.

Not yet. Labarbera looked great in relief, so I don't expect a panic trade until he lets in 5 or 6 in a game.

Grant Clitsome + Al Montoya back to PHX to resurrect his career? All we'd ask for is like Rusty Klesla...

Jets could always call up Dekanich to fill the backup void if you seriously wanted big Al.

Hopefully its not very serious because Labarbera, although he played really well today in relief, is not a very good goalie. Bishop is the first goalie that popped into my head. I'm sure Sean Burke would love to work with him because of his size. Seems to be a Coyotes type of goaltender.

As far as the proposal, Coyotes management is extremely high on Stone. I think the more likely guy to be let go is David Schlemko. I like both players and would rather hang onto both. But I would really like to get my hands on Bishop as a potential replacement for Labarbera.

Sheesh... Ottawa is like a used car salesman in this thread.

Probably should wait until we get more information on the injury.

They are all NHL calibre goalies, just none are proven to the extent of Anderson.

bishop is expected to play friday against the bolts. If he plays well (and labarbera doesnt, and smith's injury isnt short-term), I could see a trade.

Retweeted by Sarah McLellan after tonight's game

Quote:
#Coyotes G Mike Smith was in the hallway outside the locker room after the game. "I'm fine," he said, smiling. "No media questions."
Tippett said Smith warned him of tightness in pre-game skate, said went from being tight to not being able to play. I highly doubt it's anything too serious if Smith was smiling after the game. Even if he's day-to-day, I suspect Phoenix will just stick with LaBarbera and call up either Chad Johnson (Who'll probably turn into the next Mike Smith with Sean Burke's coaching!) or Mark Visentin to fill in as the back-up.
