Diotte is an idiot. He spent his question time asking questions about the old framework and not the deal presented today.

Sure, you live in Calgary. I'm grateful too

Now, if you pay taxes in Edmonton, Gary Bettman is the shady car dealer or realtor who talks your really stupid friend into spending way too much on a car or a house...

You can tell what option Katz group was pushing for
Yeah, can anybody say contrived.

Anybody looking at those options and noting that option B, and C, the dogfood versions, are somehow costing more should perhaps pause for thought and wonder how the whole magical pricetag for arena was arrived at in the first place.

Those price guesstimates are the biggest load of crap I've seen yet in this unending saga which is saying something.

I would gladly trade him for Sohi, the clown that ran an ardent anti-arena campaign and then ends up repeatedly voting for it. I doubt many even bother to notice the about face. I guess public transit and services for Millwoods isn't that important. Except thats your whole damn ticket Sohi.

liar

Sorry haven't done any research on this today, but do they still need the $100M they were asking the province for?

It probably will, since we are still missing 107 million and are in no way guaranteed that money from the province.

The province will likely contribute via infrastructure which is what the lrt and pedway will be classified as. I the province stated it has no problem committing to the project but only via infrastructure.

Um, so why are these prices different?

This is worse than a car dealership.

Oh, you mean you want a vehicle with a wheels, battery, block heater and transmission? Lets work out the real price for you..

Can we now talk about the building and district and how cool it will be instead of debating the merits of building it? Pretty please?

I'm glad the city is getting a new arena.
And I'm glad the downtown area is going to get a facelift.
Last time I was in Edmonton I couldn't believe how seedy it looked.

Not sure Katz needs his own private elevator ... at this point that just looks like taking the piss.

Will this new arena have special underground parking stalls for those with diesel dually trucks coming in from Fort Mordor?

On a more serious note, what kind of restaurants and shops do people want to see down there? I think it might be wise to open another Cactus Club at the plaza and definitely could see a Tim Hortons there despite it not being a high class place. Obviously a giant sports bar on the second floor overlooking the plaza with giant glass windows so you can see all the action inside would be cool.

They delayed it for 2 years shame on them. Also why is it not a 20,000 seat arena?

I heard with standing "seats" the capacity goes up to about 19,200 or something like that.

I wonder if the new arena can accommodate an International ice surface? The old one could but was never used.

Who said Bettman has done nothing for hockey? They meant Fehr, right!?
solid point. as much as he makes the players crazy because they would rather die than lose to him in a CBA battle, he has fought for the small markets, he has a salary cap and now he has contract limitations. all in all, probably a good.

and now we get the nicest arena in the North America (until the next one is built) and a team for over 3 decades.
