I really hope ovechkin is back on the left wing and johansson is off the first line. I think they need either brouwer or chimera on the first line with ovk and nick.

If things get off to a bad start maybe oates should switch it up and have rib on the first line with ovechkin

I don't know whether I want them to ride this out with Ovechkin at right wing or if I want them to go back to:

Ovechkin - Backstrom - Brouwer

and if they insist on keeping this righties on the right, lefties on the left thing going, then I think they should go with: Laich - Backstrom - Ovechkin when Laich is healthy

Also, I would give Fehr a shot on the second line to see what he's got:

Wolski - Ribeiro - Fehr

At this point I'm having trouble seeing where Johansson is a great fit..

  • I want to see Moar WW at 1LW. Ovi got stuffed in every rush at LW last game.
  • Ribs needs a better faceoff wing than Brouwer. If Hendricks can play on our top line, he can play on 2. And play soccer in the crease for Ribs
  • MP le'bad mouthing 2 games in and not even scratched should sit and sulk. It's his own fault if he believes George's lies every year.
  • If Green won't crank slappers or show more urgency atop the umbrella, try someone else.
  • MJ needs a new spot in our lineup. If Ribs 42% FO% can be a C, so can he.
  • Do the exact opposite of whatever it is they are trying to do on the PK.
  • Do the exact opposite of whatever it is they are trying to do on defense. Don't be afraid to be hit. Its hockey, it's unavoidable and you come off like a wuss. Just be smart and protect yourself.

Really interested to see how MP85's comments from yesterday affect (if at all) his ice time tonight.

Oates doesn't seem like the type to be strongarmed into making such decisions, though with the Caps' rough start (albeit through 2 games), who knows what he'll do.

Really hoping they can start a nice little run tonight regardless.

About MP, Oates this early in his tenure, I just don't see how he can reward MP in any way. It would set a horrible example.

If our Cs in front of MP were really crapping the bed, maybe bump up his TOI or PP time.

I would bench his ass and get Fehr into the lineup. After an ugly loss, a little shakeup is always welcome in my playbook.

WW NB AO
Hendy Rib Brouwer
Chimera Beagle Ward
Fehr Jo Crabb

Slot Fehr at 2RW or 2LW if we look lost

I hope they can put on a better performance than the last game. I have a few things I want to see. 1. More heart and a better attitude. 2. Play better D. 3. The crowd needs to be into the game, it helps the players motivation. I predict that the Caps win 3-2 in overtime!!

I appreciate the OP for using 2 of his 3 posts to start 2 of our 3 GDTs so far this season.

Neuvy gets the start. Thank god.

Getting my excuse train ready.

"They beat the Panthers 4-1 last game, they are clearly a team that's on a roll. We didn't even have a real training camp because of the lockout."

I'll throw my hat in the "Ovechkin at RW sucks" thing. It sucks. It messes with the tendencies the guy has had his entire career. His shooting angles, instincts, positioning(lol) are all accustomed to LW. If you watch him shoot in the last two games, you notice he has absolutely no accuracy at all and he hesitated on a couple of occasions. It looks like ****. Seriously, he looks like a completely pedestrian player at RW. Then, I laugh at putting him at LD on the Power Play. I mean, what the ****.

Do you think there's a team out there who would want a $2.75 million dman who can't crack a ****** defense with a man out to injury?

Nah....

If things get bad.... I hope Oates pulls Peter Bondra outta the crown and throws him on the 1st line!

God, every time I look at this lineup, I seriously wish we had at least one winger who has an ounce of skill after Ovechkin. Even a ****ing guy like Jeff Skinner-esque. We just have a collection of big, slow, stone handed bodies at 7 ****ing winger spots.

Kinda like the Seinfeld episode where George follows the opposite tack on his impulses, and ends up the Yankee's Assistant Travelling Secretary.

Worth a try... Brouwer, at least, adds a little muscle along with Riberio.

Hockey is largely a simple game. And opposite is a fine option. Its like blowing off the girl you really like, it goes against everything you think is the right way. But it can work.

Think PK, It's either, attack, or sit back. We are sitting back and guys are walking down the slot. Its a major problem. It took Bruce about 3 years to go opposite, and it worked instantly.
