Not sure if this has been posted yet. However last night the TSN panel was asked during "quiz" portion of the segment whether or not they believed Subban would be re-signed or traded.
Bob McKenzie proceeded to say that both sides are over 2 million and 2 years apart on a possible deal. There is no signs indicating that this will be resolved in the near future, and that they are so far apart that it is now more likely he is traded then re-signed. With defense becoming a need on so many teams, the price is going up and the Canadians need something now rather then waiting on him to re-sign.
What say you. When, where, and how much?
This is probably already in the subban thread. DOH! somehow didnt see it. PLEASE MERGE.
I hate to say it but as a Flyers fan I can see Holmgren making a panic move and trading for Subban if he isn't going to resign in Montreal.
Without a contract, the Habs are completely handcuffed when trading him. They can get maybe HALF the return they possibly could if he was signed. If I was Lou Lamoriello, I would, however, trade John Merrill, Henrik Tallinder, a 1st, and a 2nd for him haha.
While I think Subban is more valuable than Couturier, the truth is we'll be getting much less in value in a trade than Couturier, because our new GM is a moron who is driving down Subban's trade value as much as possible.
That's an absolutely stupid comment, sorry to say. Do I want Subban on the team? Yes. Do I support the new management? Hell yes!
The Habs are crazy if they trade PK. Top pairing defensemen don't grow on trees. Heck, they are crazy the way they are lowballing him. He is way better than Cam Fowler, and deserves more money than him. Most comparables make around $4.5 to 5 mil.
If they trade PK, it could set back the team for years. It's not just his ability, but his swagger and personality. Unless they somehow make a great deal, which is possible, given the demand for good defensemen.
The one interesting thing about this scenario will be if PK is traded. Hab fans will suddenly change their opinion to "PK was overrated, he isn't that good, he was too much trouble", etc. That will be worth the price of admission, seeing PK's upside in the eyes of Habsfan go from Shea Weber to Jay Boewmeester in a millisecond.
