I'm not saying he's worth that kind of money I'm just saying that MB might be trying to sign Subban to a bridge contract with MDZ kind of money, you never know.

Lol, Subban is not worth the 1st Overall+

He wouldnt be worth that even if If was signed to a long nice contract.

I know it's entertaining to propose trades, but it's very unlikely that he's being dealt.
He also said Gomez was a part of the team and then later sent him home.

All I take from Bergevin's,"I'm not trading Subban." is I'll worry about it when I get to that bridge.

Larsson + Tedenby
for
Subban + Eller

The Habs get a very solid youngster in Adam Larsson and a "ok" propect in Tedenby while the Devils get a proven stud in Subban and add depth at the forward position with Eller, who seems to be on the out looking in atm.

Go on RDS and the article is there.

If I were MB and Subban didn't want to sign, I would trade him only if I get fair value back or a player that can help the team the way Subban would.

If not... let him rot for the next 4 years untill he hits unristrected free agency and signs with who he wants.

MB will not deter from the teams policy to offer bridge contracts as the players second contract. Doing so for him would be a spap in the face for every young player that signed their bridge contract before him.

I have to say an offer sheet will be the best scenario for the Habs. Unless ofcourse the offer sheet amount is absurd. Habs would match it and that way they don't break team contract policy.

Anyways at this point I couldn't care less about Subban anymore let him stay at home in T.O and wait it out.

If a trade is to be made I would want a 1 for1 trade... quality for quality.

Something along the lines of Subban for Bobby Ryan.
An offer sheet isn't the best option, if a good team offer sheets Subban then we're stuck with middle to late first round picks and that wouldn't really help our team. We're better off trading him for a great prospect.

He was one of the best penalty killers in all of the league last year and was playing for about 24 minutes per game on average as a 22 year old.

I don't see why the Habs would feel the need to trade Subban. Management probably isn't aiming for the Stanley Cup (Brisebois slipped during an interview and said to wait 2-3 years until contracts were cleared...but this was before the 2 amnesty buyouts), and they wouldn't mind another top5 selection.

As an RFA, Subban has no leverage, and he has a well defined floor value, just like Kessel had. Basically, there is no reason to trade Subban for less than the compesation package that would be received for the highest offer sheet that wouldn't be matched.

I am guessing he will get better but simple fact is he stills has alot to prove if he wants the big bucks. Basically his 2 options should be take a 1-2 year deal and prove himself and then get the big bucks if he does or take a longer term deal at a reduced rate what he might get at the end of the shorter term deal(say like 4-4.5Mish)

compare their numbers. MDZ had slightly better numbers (on a much better team) so it is a good comparable to build on

We arent talking about a pick. We are talking about a young prospect that has played 2-3 games total in the NHL. Its fine if you dont like the cost from an edmonton viewpoint.

Subban would cost Edmonton one of the 4.

That's very close to what I would look for if I was Marc Bergevin. Devils would still have to add since Eller is much better than Tedenby.

Why?

He's an RFA so they will have his rights no matter what. It's not like they're afraid he'll bolt to the KHL.

Subban will get a king's ransom (top prospect) in a trade, or he won't be traded at all.

This is poor logic.

Subban is 23 years old and clearly on the path to being elite (and I am not even a fan of his).

If he was in the draft this past year (at his current age and everything) he would easily have been taken 1st OV by Edmonton in front of Yakupov.

I think the bigger question is does Subban want to play in Long Island?
