Edmonton is not the team to get a defenseman from. They need D more than we do.

But it is interesting if the trade is a 2nd and 4th rounder from Edm, considering the 2nd rounder will be almost a late 1st rounder.

Mind you, I am not opposed to having Peckham in a Carkner like role, but we need a d-man who can at least play as a #4. The price for that will be higher than Bishop.

Omark has no value whatsoever. My 10-year old has more value than he does.

It would likely be Bishop + Mr. X to get Y. This is the only way to get an upgrade on Defense.

Do not forget that Lundin is injured and will be back soon, so getting a depth defenseman is pointless. It has to be a guy that is a step up from Boroweiki, Benoit, Wiercioch and Lundin.

I would suggest Bishop and Benoit or Boroweicki for a 4-5 defenseman. A lot depends on how Wiercioch and Benoit continue. They have looked really good, but they have been been playing together in the AHL, so it might be a carry over vs rusty NHLers.

---

In general, the Sens have too many guys in all positions, so I realy think a package deal might be the best option for them.

In all fairness, nobody is old enough to remember the TO/OTT playoff rivalry.

This screams Chicago for backup purposes if Crawford is the guy in the minds of the coaching staff and management.

However, the Sens aren't getting Hjalmarsson. If they want a current NHL defenseman, they will have to look elsewhere. The Hawks could probably give up Stanton and a 2nd.

I think I was 16 the last time the Leafs made the playoffs. It's literally been slightly over 1/3 of my life since the last time I saw a Leafs playoff series (now 25).

There was the three way trade that brought Redden and Rhodes to Ottawa.

We have a surplus of D right now, so it might work.

Flyers may be interested? Love to dish out 2nd rounders... or maybe Gustafsson? Have an excess of 5th-6th defenders so may be hard for him to get games again like last year, probs makes him available.

That is the problem, Philly has excess of 5 and 6 defenders, but no 2 or 3 defenders. Gustafsson? Does he have value at all? He isn't even up with the Flyers with that defense. Not trying to cause a problem, but ...

Two questions about this.

1.Can Ballard play the right side

2.Would Canucks fans do a Bishop for Ballard pretty much straight up.

if the answer is yes, yes - I could see this going down, I really could.

Makes sense, Calgary needs a backup. Ottawa probably prefers to trade out of conference.
Is Bouwmeester a salary dump at this point?
Bishop for JB.

thoughts?

No thanks! 7+ million for a guy who doesn't even know what the playoffs look like = way too big a risk.

As a Sens fan, I don't think he's a significant upgrade over either right now.

Ya, this is the problem Unless it is a clear upgrade, i can't see the Leafs dealing for a goalie. Chicago may be your best bet. Or Phoenix due to Smith's injury.

We don't want Anaheim's 2nd. They're actually good.
