Benn is still the best player in the deal, hands down. Near PPG, younger than Subban (and DD), is big, plays big, scores and can dish the puck. He can do it all.

He's a legitimate 1st line C in this league.

Indeed. Benn and Subban are seemingly holding out for the same reasons. If Benn is to sign with the Habs we need to give him the contract we don't want to give to Subban, same with Subban with the Stars.

It makes no sense.

A salary of 5 to 5.5 for multi years make perfect sense. It's less than Price and more than Maxpac.

Yes, which is why I said 'provided he's sign here at a reasonable contract'.

We're aware he's not signed, and that's the only reason Benn would be on the block in the first place and the only way Montreal might have a chance in hell of landing him.

So PK, what is your "worth"? IF it is over 5mil$/year, GTFO.

3 less than the guy we are giving up Subban (in addition to Desharnais) to get.

Only difference, Bergevin said he insists on a bridge contract with PK, not with Benn, which at least clear him of his word in front of the fans, the media and the rest of the team....

that being said, he also said he had no intentions of trading PK....

Bridge contract does not mean low balling. Bergevin hasn't separated the two yet.

I understand they don't want a deal that takes him to UFA. That doesn't mean you insult him by offering him 3 mill.

Well, i never said anything about the proposition mentionned, i only said that you can't compare Gomez to Benn, which would be the equivalent in the said propositions,

Benn is 2 months younger than subban.

He's also only had 2 good seasons

He's missed games 24 games over the last 2 seasons due to injury

He's holding out because he does not want to sign a "bridge" contract.

Yet he is who we should target?

After just reading a post on the Oilers board from a Oiler fan who wouldn't trade for PK because there wouldn't be room in their top 4 for him I just want this nonsense to end ASAP. Just get together and work this **** out.

Why the hell would we do that trade? Our player won't do a "bridge" contract so let's overpay for somebody else's RFA who won't do one either.

That would be awesome.

But if Markov goes down, we'd be screwed on the back-end.

(that doesn't sound right lol).

Team is fine without PK now. Though it would be better with him, but without PK AND Markov it would be pretty bad.

But yeah, man that line would be huge.

Thats not the truth.

He wants a short term contract. Dallas wants a longterm contract to have cheaper number on long terms.

We don't know the amount discuss... only presumption.... if PK would accept 2 years at 3-3.5 mill a year, trust me it would have been sign already.... he would then be paid 500 000 to 1 millions over his comparables (Del Zotto, Kulikov) which, on a 2 year basis is fair enough

Who cares what he made last year. Crosby went from 850k to 5 years and 43.5 mil, so a 1,000+% raise.

Subban was underpaid last year. The habs initial offer was 2 years 5.4 mil which is a lowball offer.

So Del Zotto who has the same amount of point in the NHL as Subban took his contract while beeing insulted?

Subban deserve the same amount of money in a bridge contract. Paciorrety went there, Price went there. End of the talk.

For the record, I truly believe that PK will sign and I think it would be a HUGE mistake for both sides if he doesn't. Even if he sits for half the season, DON"T TRADE HIM!

Given that, let's have some fun!

MTL Subban + Kristo

vs

CBJ Ryan Murray + 1st rd 2013

But what if they are dynamite here but then don't want to sign their bridge contract?

That's why it's stupid to have such self-imposed rules instead of dealing with it on a case-by-case basis. MB just painted himself in a corner.

That and good defensemen are harder to come by. If I was offered Benn for PK straight up I'd certainly think about it, but probably end up keeping the D-man in the end. Can't have too strong a defense.
