But then there's no guarantee that we'd have all this skill. Stoll, Glencross, Greene and Brodziak were all here when the team was Calgary Flamesesque. Treading the 9th, 10th place line. No, what we need is a proactive general manager.

From what I understand the Wild have him slated to play RW and not C, as they are stocked full at that position. The Wild's D is also questionable outside their top pair and next year they could be in cap trouble. Whitney + 2013 2nd might do it, it's a over payment, but it might be worth it. Yes Whitney stinks right now, but I'm hopping its just rust.

don't think the Habs would have any interest in Whitney on a rental contract, if they are looking for a warm D body its potter or pecks. With the exception of a Couturier trade there isn't many teams that could put the kind of package together that the Oil could. if it cost the Oil a 1st+Klef+Prv/Harski+Potter/Peckham if they needed more maybe a Hamilton/Rieder/Moroz type prospect to finish the deal. This type of deal is a pretty decent to great mixed bag type of package for a team on a semi rebuild.

So you give up the farm for 1 player, not really a smart idea when you have so many other holes to fill.

No to both those deals.

Volchenkov is a warrior who was always one of my favourite players, but there is a reason that he has been pretty much at the bottom of NJ's defense in terms of TOI. He is a shaddow of his former self. Time and the style of game he plays have taken a major toll on him.

RFA's have very similar value to a signed player. If he was a RFA who wanted a one year deal and would then be a RFA then his value would drop.

Nope. Volchenkov makes 4.25mil for another 3 or 4 years after this one and has lots of problems staying healthy.

I actually won't be shocked to see him bought out in the summer of 2014.

Well in the past 5 drafts we've acquired 5 elite level talents. At worst we have a good core to build around.

It's funny how everything goes full circle. We offer sheeted Penner and gave up both Teubert and Schultz to Anaheim (now they have neither and we have both). Not only that but we also have Eberle. 2008 was a great draft for us after all We also traded Penner for Klefbom. Tambo has done a old job adding skill but now it's time to add that size and grit that we need.

2008: Eberle, Teubert, Schultz
2009: Paajarvi and Lander
2010: Hall and Marincin
2011: RNH and Klefbom
2012: Yakupov

I wonder if you could take a "poison pill" back as part of the deal while giving the Habs a "good" veteran.

Take back Bourque and send them Smyth. Oilers get a bigger body, Habs lose his Salary.

I wonder if he gets the old bag of pot put in his luggage and has to pay all his salary back to get back to the USA.

Yes, Ryan O'Reilly is coming home from KHL. No, he is not any closer to deal with COL. There's been no progress. None

Someone on the main board is saying he was hurt a few games ago in the KHL and that some reports are saying it's more serious than first thought.

Guy's not going anywhere

The only goalies available right now (that have a chance of being or are quality) are Bernier, Bishop, and Luongo, maybe Niemi if Sharks re-sign Greiss

Do I need to tell you what is wrong with this statement?

Bishop for Peckham and a late pick.

With Fistric there is no need for Peckham. He can't be sent down with our clearing waivers. We have Teubert that we can bring up if needed for Depth. Ottawa needs some D at the moment and our goaltending needs depth. Danis and Roy are needed in OKC and at the moment Dubnyk and Bishop can split time until one gets hot. Khabi can collect his money on the LTIR.

I'd do either Bishop for ANA 2nd or d-man (Peckham) and a 4th

I really think Bishop will push Dubnyk and he's a competent back-up who may end up being a starter

man would i love ROR...perfect 2nd line center who's big and strong...counter's RNH style perfectly

Rumor has it (was mentioned during SJS game on TSN) that OTT wants more back than they paid for Bishop, which was a second. That may be ambitious, but I guess it never hurts to ask.

before anyone jumps to conclusions...no I don't want to trade Gagner....

but...

Hypothetically speaking, if Gags were dealt for a goalie...COULD Arcobello project to be a 2nd line C in the NHL?
