Not to get the GDT thread off track, but do we *know* that McBain isn't injured? Has he been practicing...has he looked game-ready?

I've done my share of hating on McBain, but even I'll admit he's light years better than Sangs.

This thread is pretty funny, but the complete accuracy of this statement really makes it hilarious. Well done

Yeah. Grigorenko with his first career goal, Vanek with a hat trick and a Corvo own goal. The fact that he's not playing doesn't affect this.

They're open late so if you don't make it before the game, you can try to go after. The Pimento Cheese Mac-n-Cheese is amazing and it goes great with a quarter fried chicken and a Fullsteam Honey White.

Registered just to post about food on a hockey forum. Don't eat at the Pit, it's crap. Go to Clyde Cooper's and get the real deal.

Woody's is by far the best sports bar and if you want the best burger in town, Player's Retreat can't be beat.

I've not gotten on the hipster bandwagon for Ashely Christensen stuff, it's expensive and there is a lot better fare in Durham if you want that kind of food.

It's GDTs like this one why Ido t attempt to make one. If I had put one up first we all may have been deprived of this masterpiece.

Depending on what happens tonight, I have two minor GDT ideas.. Win= A happy, normal GDT. A loss = Dan Ellis the savior GDT

The pit is amazing... what are you talking about... Clyde Cooper is amazing, yes, but the pit isn't designed to compete against Cooper's

Exactly. FWIW I've had both and prefer The Pit to Clyde Cooper's, but the two aren't competitors in any more than McDonalds competes with PR or Raleigh Times or Chuck's. And while PR is VERY good, it's your standard burger. Nothing wrong with that, but sometimes you're in the mood for something a little out of the ordinary and that's where Chuck's (and formerly Draft) are welcome additions to the food scene here. That and the fries at PR can't even hold a candle to the Belgian-style fries at Chuck's. As for price, it's not any more expensive than any other downtown restaurant and cheaper than a few.

As for Durham they do have some good restaurants, but they also have some that are criminally overhyped for what you actually get (Dos Perros, I'm looking at you).

Much of the stuff around the Bulls part/DPAC is pretty nice. Tyler's Taproom is where I frequent but there are a lot of other quality places in that area. Haven't checked out Cuban Revolution though given the politics of the place I don't intend to either.

Fun fact: Mike Card didn't actually play for the Buffalo Sabres in Game 7. This is something they made up.

PR is pretty decent for old-school sports bar fare, but Draft on Glenwood is the bomb for burgers. BIG burgers from local grass-fed cattle and gourmet(ish) cheese options. Not super pricey either, and they have tons of TVs if you want to watch games.
