The Sedins on a bad day make more things happen than Kassian. They haven't been great yet but even rusty they're miles ahead of Zk.

It really depends what your team needs. As a leafs fan.... I'd probably take Kassian only because i highly doubt Hodgson will end up becoming a #1 and because we need some grit to play against the bruins.

If we are talking overall value, most likely Hodgson.

Who would I rather have if I was starting a team from scratch? Hodgson. It's harder to find centers with top-line talent than wingers with top-line talent (even big, mean ones).

That's basically irrelevant though considering no one is ever starting an NHL team from scratch. It's an impossible poll to answer honestly, every team has different needs. If you lack size and grit but are set at C, you pick Kassian. If you have a load on the wing but need help down the middle, you pick Hodgson. It really was a perfect trade. Pareto-efficient reallocation of resources.

Hodgson is a better player right now, though. But that also doesn't matter very much.

A couple good games and Canuck fans go from practically tarring and feathering Kassian to him being the next Lindros.

Too early to tell yet on who's better. Anson Carter was an amazing player with the Sedins too. How well did he do without them?

Is someone going to make this thread every time one of them has a good week? I would pick Hodgson I don't think Kassian is the next great power forward and while he has been very good to start the year 3 games isn't going to change the fact I think Hodgson will end being the better/more effective player.

Hmmmm, which is harder to find..
I find it funny how you gave more characteristics to Kassian, because he is a better playmaker than Hodgson right?

Buffalo filled a need, Vancouver filled a need..win/win.

Tough-as-nails, hulking forwards with top line offensive skill are the hardest players in the league to find and develop. It doesn't mean they're better but they're certainly a rarer commodity.

There are quite a few good skilled first and second line centers. But how many players in this league have the combination of grit and skill that you find in Milan Lucic? Players like Neely, Bertuzzi, and Shannahan don't grow on trees.

I've been saying Kassian since the trade. Guy is an absolute monster when he's on his game, I'm glad he's out of the Northeast even if it means the more skilled player in Hodgson coming back.

It will be a Seguin vs Hall thing (on a much smaller scale) where two completely different players get compared to each other all the time

I think it is happening more than Hall vs Seguin as certain Canuck fans want validation for the move (not saying you or the majority of Canuck fans).Kassian and Hodgson have nothing in common and what you choose will entirely depend on what you think it more important and unless you your priorities change on a weekly basis this poll will always be the same.

If you want a tough physical potential 2nd line 50-60 point player you'd take Kassian. (ie what the Canucks wanted)
If you want a smaller quicker play maker who has the potential to be a 1st line center but won't dominate a game physically you'd take Hodgson (ie what Buffalo wanted)

Cody Hodgson is the better player, still bummed the management and grumpy Vigneault rubbed him off, he could be beautiful player if everything goes right for him in Buffalo

I don't understand some of Canucks fans hatred for Hodgson for wanting to further his career cause he was blocked here. I'm happy that arguably the softest team in the league has a guy in the top 9 that can fight and be physically intimidating. I hope Hodgson becomes the #1 centre in Buffalo long-term and becomes all that they want from him, cause Hodgson failing has no effect on how good the Canucks will be, or Kassian for that matter

Nobody just wants both to do well? It's impossible to compare them. They are just entering the league. Kassian did the same thing in his first couple games with the Sabres last year too. Let's wait and see how they are in 5 years.

Im rooting for both.

Why dont fans find the constant need to pump one player and criticize the other? Both have high upside and will be good players.

Hodgson is the better player and imo will be but the is no disrespect to Kassian, he brings an element that the Canucks havent had in along time. Very good trade for both teams.
