Doubt that Getzlaf wants out.

The Riders cut Patrick, and Goodspeed comes off of the payroll, too. Over 200K in savings with those two moves. Simon for picks and a depth import is a good deal. Even if Geroy only puts up 700-800 yards it's a good deal.

The Edmonton Eskimo Football Club today announced the naming of two key members of the 2013 coaching staff. Veteran CFL coaches and mentors Greg Marshall and Doug Sams join the Eskimo organization as defensive coordinator and offensive coordinator respectively.

So does Sams help bring in a Burris who he directly worked with all last year?

Seems unlikely Hamilton would be looking to deal Burris though. Hoping we bring in MacPherson, who I actually thought they were planning on bringing in last season after Ray got traded.

MacPherson isn't coming here. Anyway, it's very unlikely. I'd put it at a 10% chance.

Some coaching changes yesterday.

Kavis said that Mark Nelson and Marcus Crandell are being considered for “other roles” in the organization. I think Nelson is likely to move on, after this demotion.

I renewed my season's tickets yesterday.

I would put Marcus Crandell in charge of seat installation. In a section I'm not planning on sitting in..

Was Mark Nelson really a part of the problem?

Just came to post this.

http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=414907

With him and Nicholls in camp there should be good competition for the starters position.

i'm not sold on reilly, but like you said, it will mean that we have two chances of having a decent starter between nichols and reilly.... i don't expect either to light the league up, but i would expect them both to be better than jyles was last year (although that isn't saying much)

Good move Hervey , though Rielly seems like more hype then substance at this point. Still Reilly & Nichols should be at least a descent one two punch better then last season for sure. We'll see I guess

Any QB addition that pushes Joseph down the depth charts is good imo. I am not sold on Nichols or Reilly, I would prefer to watch youth there at least

Beauty. Going into next year with Nichols-Rielly as the QBs vying for a starting spot is better than hoping one of Jyles or Joseph will win it. Wonder what we gave up.

Conditional pick, it becomes more valuable if he signs an extension. So we'll have to wait and see, but we do know it's a pick.

He signed an extension.

Esks give up a 2nd round pick in 2014 and switch 2nd rounders this year.

At least we have two young guys in the stable that have the ability to develop into something much more than Jyles & Joesph.

I called this trade weeks ago, although I got wrong what we would give up. I said a likely third rounder. My source fed me bad intell, I guess. Good move. Aside from overpaying Shaw, Swerve is doing some good things.

I think this will finally remove my concerns about joseph starting games.
I have no idea how it will turn out, but I feel a whole lot better about the QB situation going into next year after watching the jyles and joseph crap we saw this past season.
