He hasn't done **** to warrant more money than that and he's still a young kid, and this after the long lockout too.... whatever man.
Whoa? Why so mad? We don't even have any real information of what's going on. It's all speculation. Why get made over speculation?

No way the Stars give Benn for PK straight up.
PK hasn't proven enough yet. He's proven he can be a solid top 3 Dman.
Benn's proven he is a big physical first line centre.

Not too many teams trading big first line centres for top 3D's. Can Subban improve and become a top defenceman, yes. But at this point, a younger Benn has proven more and that's what GM's will be looking at.

Lets sag we have a good season and make the playoff(with subban signed at 5.5 million/season, which means we have no cap space left). Well we cant trade for a good player for the playoff run cuz we booked him at full price tag. If you get PK locked for 2 years at 3.5 you get 2 mil and some to trade for someone who can contribute to our playoff push.

Want it or not the habs (and bergevib) feel the pressure to perform and wants to improve the club (after that disapointing season).

Gomez got shipped home because Bergevin wants cap room this offseason to work with. Its not rocket science, doesnt mean he dont want Subban signed...
IMO Prust's value is closer to 1.5mil. The point is, overspending on grunts and penny pinching on our best is bad management.

There's also the notion that Bergevin does not appear to be concerned about the cap implications of keeping an 18 year old on the team. I guess we'll see, maybe the kid will be sent back. If he's kept, it will be another example of MB being generally loose with cap space, but tight in this one specific case with Subban.

How much was he offered exactly? And saying it is 4x his ELC is disingenuous at best, I don't think we need to re-hash that argument again. You are getting mad at him and denigrating him based on speculation. Keep that in mind.

I don't know what he should be given exactly, but he's definitely proven his worth.

Thing is, we would need a D, add Eller + 2nd pick 2013 for Fowler?

Have you seen Fowler play?

Unless we can move Subban for Ryan and somehow use Eller/Desharnais + Leblanc + 2013 2nd round pick to acquire Bogosian from the Jets.

Only way this would make remote sense.

Bobby,

you know what? i would give him 7-8 year for 5 million now....

Habs are CLASSIC dumb FOR THESE SHORT TERM DEALS...

Plekenac they gave him a 1 yr ,when Plek want a long term... they could have locked him up at 3.5 million long term.....then year later it cost Habs 5 million a year long term..

Josh G...he wanted long term deal...Habs said no....even his agent said Habs could have locked him up WAY CHEAPER around 2.85 million...but no ,they gave him a bridge deal....1 year later , cost them 4 million a year

Subban he comes to play every game.no nights off..ok...and 4 years from now 5 million a year will be a steal....but no, here goes the Habs again with a short term bridge deal.....you watch what PK cost us 2 year from now likley 7.5 million a year........when we can lock up now way cheaper......again there goona be dumb AGAIN..

As much as i hate Subban holding out, he's more than a solid top 3 dman. He's a solid 1st pairing D. He doesn't compare with the odd 90 top defensemen in the league. He compares with the top 30-40 dmen. That makes him borderline solid #1 D.

People actually have a very short memory, as there are things that Subban has proven, that guys like Benn and others haven't proven yet. Playoff performance. People seem to have forgotten how Subban frustrated pre-concussion Crosby into a hissy fit in the 2010 playoffs. And those goals against Boston, arguably the best Dman in that series not named Chara.

Imo, a top d-man even though not as "sexy" has a greater value than a top forward. Lidstrom or Pronger over Stamkos or Giroux any day of the week.

Subban at 22/23 y.o. has already showed top d-man quality both offensively and defensively. The guy can be a threat on the powerplay while shutting down the opponent best elements. Could he be traded? Sure. But imo, it would have to be for something better than Couturier.

Ok we send LeBlanc PK to Dallas for Benn and Chaisson that works for me.

If Carbo's story is true PK needs to sign the 2 year deal. Better for him in the long-run.

When a hard-nosed agent like Don Meehan tells you to accept a deal, you accept the deal imo.

If it's accurate of course.

There will always be drama. Habs fans like to criticize. No matter what happens (sign or trade), people will overreact. Sad but true.

Thankfully we have until 2019 to figure out...

Did you really not know Pacioretty signed a 6 year deal?
