Ranger fan coming in peace, though I've always had a soft spot for the Caps. Anyways, I do sincerely believe that Boudreau's switch to a defensive system permanently damaged the team.
At first, it was like trying to fit a square peg into a round hole so then GMGM went out and acquired these meat and potatoes kind of guys, while getting rid of the skill players in the process. So now, even if the team wanted to return to a high octane offense, who else besides OV/Backie would fit with it. Certainly not guys like Joel Ward, Brouwer, etc. Picking up Ribeiro/Wolski may have been a move in the right direction, but I frankly don't think either is that good, particularly WW who frustrated the heck out of us in NY.

Personally my favorite Caps team post-lockout had to have been in 08-09, back when the supporting cast consisted of guys like Semin, Kozlov, Fedorov, Fleischmann, and Nylander. Team was amazing to watch, and trust me, I remember that 7 game series we had against you vividly. I honestly believe if you guys had gotten past Pitt, you woulda steam rolled Carolina, and in the finals anything can happen.

That squad, and their style is certainly far more entertaining than watching grinders like Beagle and Hendricks battle it out along the boards all game.

"Coming in Peace" really "grinds my gears".

Yo dawg, I'm coming in peace but your team is really terrible.

I wonder what it would be like to have a poster come over not "in peace"

Buzz Lightyear came in peace. He wasn't such a bad guy.

Isn't that what half the Caps "fans" do on this board 99% of the time?

You want me to put it bluntly:
I used to look forward to watching your team play, now it's some of the most dreadful hockey in the league

I guess that's what it would be had I not "come in peace"

Good stuff Rouse.

The players minds were blown vs Montreal and we really havent been the same team since. But its more than that. Cherry and the NHL cracking down on the best marketing piece the league had, didnt help.

They wanted Ovi the robot, they got it. The games are snoozers, all the players bring the exact same style. Its mostly a skate fest. I predict 0 big hits tonight and outside of a few goals, a quickly played boring game.

Outside of our heavies, no one really seems to have a passion for the game. Just going through the motions; just give me my ****ing pay check.

See, if you'd have said it that way you'd have fit in perfectly on this board.

Hahaha. Well put. This team used to be fun to watch. Now they remind me of my beer league team, which is never a good thing.

Oh, now you are just trolling.

But you said you came in peace first though, so it's okay.

Seriously. Why choose the Caps? Not good for ones mental health.

Anyone feel like "coming in peace" to the Habs forum and telling them that we "less than enjoy the actions of one Rene Donald Bourque in his on-ice interactions with our hockey Centerman Nicklas Backstrom in previous encounters and would prefer if Mr. Bourque played the game of hockey a little bit more gentlemanly."?

Our GDT has twice as many posts in it than theirs. And people say Habs fans are die hards. Buncha casual fan *****es.

I did it in a Blues GDT apparently without trying.

Over there apparently they think you have to lay out a guy without the puck for it to be interference and I posted the link to the interference rules on the NHL site and a mod said I was trolling.

Its because of our reps as Caps fans on these boards. People come to our side of things and get trolled in our threads so every time one of us goes away from the Caps section they automatically think were doing it elsewhere.

I wanted Hendricks on 2 and nailed it. Skill level or work ethic warranting the move aside, I think its a myth that 4th liners cannot play on top lines. Warren Young played with Mario. Semenko played with Gretzky. Knuble and a whole cast of others played with Ovi, including Aucoin.

Its not who plays where, its who plays with who. Ribs needs faceoff help.

I will go as far to say Hendricks will score. He will go to the net angle his stick and skates at the goal and wait.

Tonight may be the night ladies and gents. It better be as I can't take a lousy arse product on our lousy ice.
Is it possible to play Hendo and Chimera on the same line? I just like the pressure Chimera's speed puts on the other team and would prefer it on the 2nd line.

I think tonight the Boys show an obvious pulse. Not necessarily a win, but marked improvement over the previous 2 games.
