I don't get why people complain about people who don't like the announcers. If you don't like it, don't read the damn message board. Don't want to that either? Then stop watching sports.
I dont know, even if he does I still see us winning this game. We've been playing really physical and IMO Carolina doesnt have enough to stand up to our crushing blows lately.
Im a little nervous with Enroth starting, even though I like him. I'd also like to see at least one ass beatdown by Scott tonight. That last fight was weak and I would really like to see what he can bring.
Being a Swedish goalie fan, I hope Enroth does really well. he's been much better, seen from training camp it looks like. But he's still a bit young, time to develop still. The physicality has been great. It's what we needed, maybe a jumpstart. Also living in NYC while Scott was on the Rangers, he is a force to be reckoned with even if he loses. The huge body and big punches thrown can **** any dude up. Same with his hits.
Surely Pyro, you can imagine why people complain... the sound of the sport and the event is part of the experience. There's also a lot of information to delivered through the audio.
That being said, I do wish there was a button that enabled you to mute announcers but still hear the sounds on ice and in the arena.
NHL 2K8 had a great option where you could change the announcers to a dynamic orchestral score that changed depending on the situation in the game (triumphant music with a big lead, tense music when down 1 late in the game in the 3rd, etc).
It was really well executed and way, way better than listening to the same recorded lines over and over again from announcers I don't even particularly like live. A friend and I try to recreate it sometimes in NHL12 when we play our season with movie soundtracks, but it's not quite the same.

Ive seen him fight for other teams, it will just be a joy to watch him some ass today. Although I really hope he saves it all for Boston. That should be an entertaining game to watch. I like Enroth, but from what I saw with Miller in the last game, it looks like he's on fire. I thought for sure Toronto would score on that long 5 on 3. Cant say they shot much, but they had quite a few good opportunities and Miller was like a brick wall. As long as our defense stands strong tonight, I think we'll win this. Carolina is hungry for a win, so I think they will come out strong, and hopefully our big boys will control that quick.
Nathan Gerbe (back) has been cleared for action and will make his season debut tonight, while Ville Leino (LBI) and
Cody McCormick (finger) still remain sidelined with injuries. TJ Brennan, Matt Ellis and Mike Weber are the healthy
scratches, while Jhonas Enroth will get his first start in goal.
Leino to IR, Gerbe back. Assignment move still put off for a few more days at least.

Thanks Chain!
Unfortunately I will not be going to this game in light of hard to find a babysitter for twins and a 9 year old at last second add that in the the 3 hour drive from the homestead.. Guess I will just have to plan a mini vacation to Buffalo one of these weekends. Will wait until its warm though....

Totally forgot about that. It was one of the more original and well-executed little things I've seen in a sports game. My friends and I always chose that option.

Agreed. Gerbe skated with Grigs and Ott which obviously puts Hecht back on the 4th line. Either Ellis or Scott would come out for him, with Ellis being more likely imo.
Edit: Didn't notice Chain confirmed that it is Ellis, as expected

Yeah Miller was great. Hopefully we can flatten their moxy right out of the gate, maybe get up 1, 2-0, deflate Carolina. They are scary though with the two Staals, but we can still get them if we put on the heat.
Do we have confirmation that the puck will actually drop at or around 7:00pm? Or is it "Obscure thing nobody else even cares about outside of Raleigh" Night that will delay it by twenty minutes or so?

There home opener was tuesday night so I assume tonight will be your normal 7:07pm puck drop....
