Naturally they would look better defensively in a defensive system. Doesn't mean they're good though.

zeke somehow always has all the stats to show the Leafs don't suck. Yet the one stat that actually matters (team points), the Leafs continue to suck time and time again. Maybe these stats aren't telling the whole story?

Sens now and future. I agree with nearly 85% of people who have voted.

It's funny, while all the Sens fans were planning who to pick with their inevitable top-5 pick heading into last year, I was the one telling them that with the addition of Anderson to complement a core of Karlsson/Gonchar/Kuba, Spezza/Alfie/Michy, all they needed was some depth scoring to step up for them to challenge for the playoffs.

Sens fans thought I was crazy at the time, of course.

Of course you were right, you are just so much more intelligent then the rest of us scrubs. I'm glad we have to steer us in the right direction.

Future? I like the Sens.

P.S. I miss 2005-2008. Sens spanked the Leafs on a normal basis.
Yeah, about as much as I miss 2000-2003 when the Leafs made it an annual springtime tradition of sending the Sens to the golf course.

To this day the Sens have never beat the Leafs in the playoffs.

Neither has any other team beat the Leafs!

Then again, they haven't made the playoffs in the last seven seasons, but still...

I feel like the last statement becomes null and void when you cannot even make a playoff appearance in nearly a decade.

But you are right, the Leafs do "always" beat the Sens in the playoffs.

I have yet to see a Prospect rating (HF, THN, McKeens etc.) that puts the Leafs even close to the Sens.

So I think it is safe to say that the future should be all Sens. Should be = not a guarantee, just very likely.

He hasn't played this year. Just like I wouldn't include Cowen on the Sens depth chart for this season.

Liles, Kostka and Komisarek are turds for sure. Would not take ANY of them in Ottawa, even at league minimum.

I'm pretty sure Gardiner played in the last game. Not sure about tonight though.

And Kostka has looked decent so far.

Yeah he played tonight.

I like Gardiner (still has much to learn though) and Gunnarsson (as a 2nd pair guy). Phaneuf is meh, would not feel comfortable with him on my top pair.

The rest is pretty much crap. Franson shows flashes but defensively he's iffy at best

The Leafs aren't going anywhere until they draft/develop/acquire an NHL goaltender.

This actually isn't worth a discussion now. Ottawas seemingly learned to play puck possession hockey overnight and erik karlsson is pretty much deion sanders to the oppositions breakout. I see this team continuing to surprise until its understood the level of impact karlsson makes. Many are missing the mark with him....TSN and sports net seemed to have learned over the off season he plays good D, but how good? Kids a playmaker.

Sens now and later, however I see a lot of bright spots in the leafs organization. Kadri always scared me the few games he played in against the Sens, I was glad when Burke mismanaged him and buried him in the AHL. I'm scared again that he has been released and seems like he could be a breakout star for the Leafs future.

LOL really? This what you're going with?

2003 called, they want their trash talk back.

We've also never beaten the Habs in the playoffs either... I'm just mentioning it because it's equally as relevant as what you said.

Leafs fan saying Sens now and in the future. They have a current team that can vie for a playoff spot, they have a farm team that's still playing great hockey without their young stars, they have 18M of friggin cap space. Both teams have holes to their overall roster, but the Leafs deficiencies are harder to fill.
