I love this move for the Rangers.

Not sure what people are seeing in Kolarik. Ferriero has more career goals in the NHL than Kolarik has games.

Kolarik puts up more points in the AHL. It doesn't mean he is the better player. He is not strong on the puck and is not a talented grinder. He's not super fast either. Ferriero fits the rangers system more and will become useful on there bottom two lines. Kolarik doesn't fit in down there.

Smart move by the rangers.

Bingo.

Sucks it didn't work out with Ferriero, but best not to keep force-feeding ice time to a guy who looks completely out of his element in the system and had no hope of getting a call-up. Hopefully Kolarik will help WBS's non-existent offense like Ferriero was supposed to.

The Rangers get a guy who is more capable of playing in the NHL if needed and the Penguins get a better player for their AHL team that is struggling to score goals. Pretty fair minor deal.

One way to judge how minor a trade is for me...two guys get traded for each other, I know who both guys are, but I have no clue who plays for which team at this point in time. I consider myself a relatively knowledgeable hockey fan, but I didn't have a clue which guy was getting traded from/to which team.

I've seen Kolarik play a few times in Hartford for the Whale and he looks decent. If i'm not wrong he's one of there leading goal getters? Not a plan the parade type trade but good for Pitt IMO
