I guess Bourque is happy that he won't be bought out this summer. Kaberle just wrote his name all over that

Up until the Gio goal this was Bourque's worst game. Still probably is, but he wasn't bad.

Awards:
Diaz sure has surprised me. Did not expect him to show so much offensive upside. Maybe just a product of playing with Markov, but his control of the puck has been stellar and his IQ is being showcased every time he has to correct a pass that is off it's mark.

Will Prust be suspended ?

Instigating a fight in the last 5, or 10 minutes of the 3rd is an automatic 1 game suspension, no ?

He's getting "being in the offensive zone assists." Somewhat deserves, he's doing solid work on gaining the zone and maintaining possession even if he isn't being especially creative.

Special teams are back! So important in today's referee controlled games. Plus the shortened season - PP and PK more critical than ever....

After all the painful games against this Caps team recently, damn that felt good to just lay the smackdown in their building.

Markov is the man.

Diaz making that bridge contract look foolish, should have signed him for 5 years this summer!

Price is putting together an early Vezina bid. Remember when it was 2-0, he stoned Wolski and then Gionta scored seconds earlier? Game could have turned on a dime right there.

Tomas Plekanec further proving he is the #1 C on this team. Really shocked that Bourque - Plekanec - Gionta is clicking so well so early, did not think there was enough creativity on that line for it to work.

Another ho hum at best game by the 1st line even though they were on the ice for 2 goals for. Cole just looks old. Desharnais is doing nothing to quiet the growing amount of doubters...

But man alive was Washington pitiful AND lifeless tonight. The stinkage from that performance will be smelled for days.

NJ will be a true test.

I think Armstrong could lose his spot (not because he's not playing well but because Eller will play!)
I think it will be White... But whatever, great game.

Takeaway points:

1- Habs were giants among pygmies. Caps looked dreadfull.
2- The General's back.
3- What a difference a lockout can make.
4- Diaz is the real deal.
5- GallyX2: The Kids are allright!
6- Price is a boss.
7- A great team victory.

Impressive win! Take that haters!

I really hope that Markov will stay healthy. Nice to see Diaz and Emelin improving. With Gorges, we have a solid top 4 even without Subban. Not saying that we don't need him but he is losing leverage in the negotiations.

Can't wait to see Kaberle benched for Subban.

That guy can't even play anymore.

Markov may have bumped himself up into the top ten for D men points!

Price is great again.

Dangerous PP, strong PK, solid puck possession 5 on 5, finishing hits, bodies in front of the net, defending teammates again, contribution from almost everyone (any D-men not get a point tonight?) Ribeiro invisible. I like it.
