Heard Butch call Carkner "Gartner" on Saturday.
If he wasn't so great and the final piece to the puzzle in 1980, he'd be a joke.

My Fiance heard Butch say something along the lines of....
"Sorry to interrupt you Hardy, that was a great play by Matt Marty"

I heard him say "Irlanders" and, refering to Grabner's empty net goal, "He anticiplates the play".

It's only 3 games. Butch is a bit rusty, didn't do color in Europe. He''ll heat up soon.

I would LOVE to hear Butchie do a KHL game. I should be a PPV event.

Also, that Butchie commercial spot is gold. First, the lighting makes Butch's eyes look like this:
Second, I love the little sassy bobble at the very end.

I'm sorry...perhaps I'm the only one, but Butchie is absolutely Golden!!!!
I love him and wouldn't trade him for any other color guy. He's so damn entertaining and happy he's ours.

You know, my perspective has completely shifted on Butch. I was old enough to watch hockey right AFTER the dynasty (1985). I did see the greatness of Bossy, because he still had the skill even though he couldn't bring it every night. You could see the remainders in some of the other guys who were basically beat up half to death (Trottier, Potvin). But I've watched some of the NHL vault games, and I just had no idea what kind of player Butchie was. He was as annoying as a common housefly, but a deadly finisher off of turnovers. Someone ought to show Grabner some video of Butchie, that's what he ought to be. That was a dude who knew how to finish on a breakaway.
Cheers,
Dan-o

Since I've ditched cable this season and moved over to Hockey Streams to watch the games, I haven't been able to see an Islanders broadcast as of yet. I gotta say it's a mixed blessing. On one hand, I don't have to hear Butch mess up the names of the players on the team he works for, but on the other, I can no longer share in the jovial ribbing that we give him for doing the exact same thing!

Butch even messes up the names on twitter:
Quote:
Congrats to Brian Strait on his new 3 year deal with the Isles. He has played solid each and every gm while paired with. Mark Strite

Good chance Devils have Enrique back in lineup tonight. This definitely makes the Devils a better team

Butch is simply brutal... it's not only the mispronunciation of the names, he often refers to a play stating that player XXX did something when in actuality, it was player YYY.
