Tom Poti was on the radio yesterday saying how guys told him they weren't a fan of Hunter 'coz Hunter never talked to anyone. Perhaps this team needs a coach who they don't like. Hunter certainly managed to get them to play hard, even if they supposedly didn't like him.

There is more going on with this team than just learning a new system. They are completely out of sorts. They aren't mentally in it. Not sure how to get that changed. Oates has a huge undertaking in front of him for this season.
Good eye.

This is why I was shocked by Oates "you gotta show up" comment: a coach rarely says this.... unless it's at the end of his run and he's clearly lost the team.

No, we wouldn't have accomplished half of what we have so far with him. He'd have totally made our team suck and convincingly lose the first 3 games with no one on the same page. Thank god we dodged that landmine.

Also, yes, Semin has been known to get ridiculously hot while everyone else is crapping themselves, and vice versa.

Semin has more minor penalties than he does points.

No. And GMGM's criteria of any coaching staff having to be a Caps Alumni is one of the reasons for the results he gets. Expand your criteria GMGM!

No. He was on the table for Nash, but not on the table for other teams to trade for.

Canes fans seem to think he's their best player right now, at least was through the first 2 games for whatever that was worth.

You're right...nevermind. I forgot that he wasn't available for Carter -it was only for Nash.

john maclean. it just sort of flashed thru my mind when i heard him say he's not a knute rockne speach guy. that we are professionals and we need to show up to work.....then the part where ov is back on left wing because he's not happy on right wing.

caps goals this season. ward, ward, wolski, brouwer, hendricks, crabb. to me that says it all.

We need Laich back. We need Orlov back. We need the PK to pressure the puck, we were better on that 5 on 3 with karlzner and beagle than any 5 on 4 power play this season. Get ribeiro off the pk, put mojo there. Switch up nicky and ovi and have ribs play with ovi and brouwer. Put mojo, wolski and backstrom on the 2nd line.

If we didn't have Poti in the lineup this team would be even worse than they are now, and I don't think thats even possible

Ribeiro is the only skill forward on this team who gives a **** right now. Give him all the minutes he can handle.

I agreed, but he shoulnt be on the PK. Put him on the ice right after the PK ends. But he is not that great defensively. Beagle, chimera, mojo, crabb would all be better than he is on the PK.

I definitely have liked his puck handling and think he should be getting more ice time. But the PK is not the place to get it from him

Apparently pointing out that he's taking minor penalties at a high rate and scoring at a low rate is talking ****.

The lack of energy and leadership from so-called star players is galling.

Might be a blessing...worst start in 20 years. Some of us called for a core shakeup years ago. It's a shame McPhee doesn't have the intestinal fortitude to make a bigtime hockey trade. I'd be kicking the tires on Burke if I was Ted...guy admittedly scares me a bit though (Burke).
