Beagle already gets a lot of PK time.

Ward, Chimera, and Crabb should get more than Ribeiro.

Johansson shouldn't be on the ice at all.

When the truth is all bad, apparently that's your fault.

To be fair, OV has more penalties than points.

I tend to disagree on that. I think he skated with a purpose tonight, and I thought during his rookie season he excelled on the PK. Mojo is not a winger and the caps are trying to slot him as one. He is basically a developing Ribeiro without the excellent vision and stick skills, at this point.

He is much better defensively than he is offensively

Ribeiro was invisible tonight (although he was playing with Brouwer and Hendricks). Backstrom was easily better.

Is there anyone Oates won't put on the PK? I saw Perreault out there tonight.

At least he has a Jordan Staal PK to fall back on. Muller probably told him to go wild and take all the gritty team-first penalties he wants. 2006-2007 Anaheim model if you will.

Ha, Wolski is literally the only Caps forward who hasn't been on the PK yet. I especially can't believe Ribeiro is getting over 2 minutes a night there. Hopefully that'll go down when Laich is back.

So,

It's being said by the Cap's analysts on TV that some of the players are not showing up.

Putting aside why, I'd first.... like to identify them.

So... who is just playing poorly, and who is deliberately not providing the effort?

Then...... I want to know why. Pretty early in Adam's tenure to be seeing this.

The team has lacked vision and identity for a while. Without a vision, an idea of how we get from where we are to the Cup, an idea of the missing pieces, there's no way to acquire them and no way to know who to get rid of.

They finally got rid of one of the "core" but as I mentioned last year...if your vision is a defensively responsible possession team, and that's your logic for dumping Semin...well there's another Russian you need to dump with him.

Otherwise, you need a vision that includes both of them, because if you're playing a style that suits 8, you're playing a style that makes Semin one of the most dangerous players in the league.

You (not personally, the team) also fired the best coach for that system.

If you buy that's the sole reason they dumped Semin....I don't. It was well beyond style of play. They also didn't really dump him. They let him go for nothing. THey should have made a locker room statement/trade years ago. They would have gotten quality assets and changed the team dynamic quickly. Instead we have a core in a tailspin mentally.

Agree on the vision part, sadly Bruce helped start that by caving in style of play after the league cried that the Caps couldn't play D. Now we try to play D, still suck and can no longer score.

The Caps are really becoming a sad, overpriced product.

This tem is in dire straits to be sure. I agree something major needs to be done and I'm open to almost any idea, but if people start thinking Burke is the answer I'll become even more dispirited.

Hard to believe these guys went from being a strong PK unit in the playoffs to whatever it is ATM. Power play goals are killing them right now. Tighten the box boys and clear the puck when you have a chance.

There's still time but not much. I'll watch the game tonight and not because I think they stand an expletive chance of winning. Frankly, I'm not sure why I'm gonna watch. LOL

the only reason burke may be an answer because he may actually see faults in players, or the teams makeup, that warrants a roster trade. Or, has the balls to actually do it.

We can parade in rookie coaches, and let UFA's walk, but it does not change the dynamic of the team which at it core, is based in the players.

And this teams problem is not Ovi at RW. The problem is, is that he is our only scorer. Even when he was our only scorer in his early years, the team sucked. Its not all on him.

Coaching is in play now, as we all saw we can play Hunter D and compete. We do need to give it time but early returns shows players lost, not even a simple PK copied from last year. Oates needs to scale things back to a players comfort zone. Too short a camp may be in play for what he is trying to teach.

I think if we go 0-9, someone has to go. George, Adam, or one of the players you want to hold no matter the return.

We're glad to be rid of him. Sucks with systems. Doesn't expect accountability.

Oates really showed his lack of experience last night.

The game was 0-0 and we just killed off about a minute of a 5-3 with the PKers doing a good job but trapped in their zone the whole time. They were dog tired.

Never in my life have I seen a coach call a TO in that situation and put 2 of the 3 guys right back out there!!! I was screaming at the TV that it better work or else he's gonna suffer.

Not only does he put Karlzner out but then Ribiero as the forward?? He's not even good on face offs and Backstrom would have been a far superior choice.

Anyhow the Habs score. Ok...fine..its a 5-3

Next shift PK (we got another penalty right after those expired)? He puts Karlzner RIGHT back out there! They were clearly gassed as they played pretty much the entire first 6 minutes of the period.

Those two end up being on the ice for all 4 montreal goals and were clearly spent due to overuse.

That took all the wind out of the sails of this fragile team.

As far as the PK. There maybe some coaching issues (mainly revolving around the personnel he goes to) but it littered with physical mistakes as guys can NEVER seem to clear the zone and when they do its delay of game. Not sure what Brouwer was doing but for a guy who talked so much during the lockout he was already in the Tinner's doghouse.

Looks like a long year of suck but ofcourse I will watch every game anyhow. At least it gives me something to biatch about....
