So basically he's screwed from the get go.

I'm lazy when it comes to assigning blame. Head coaching positions come with a lot of blame and credit, and ultimately if an assistant coach is making as poor of choices as are being made regarding personnel on the PP that is also on the head coach.

BTW ... did anyone catch Lites in the 2nd intermission?

He said the deal was essentially done last night, and they finished the details today.

That makes Mark's tweet about an impasse extremely strange. Who the hell was he talking too?

Surely they're not feeding him false information?

IDK ... but I swear that's what I heard him say. Was hoping someone could confirm.

It's not like Mark even talks about rumors. Usually when people asked him about Benn he didn't have anything to say. I'm OK with him sticking to facts.

This just seems really strange that he'd be that off.

I think some of us may have just gotten a little hung up on the word "impasse". Wasn't the tone of the tweet something along the lines of "nothing new"? If he wasn't getting any info and and thus thought talks weren't going anywhere I could see him calling it an "impasse".

The Stars trading Ott hurt Sturm's show, so he's not happy. Of course, it doesn't help that Sturm seems to think Ott somehow intimidated guys who would think about running Benn, which is silly.
He's not alone amongst a sea of Otterheads who used to think (and probably still do) that he was some kind of an "intimidating presence" for the opposition.

The amount of Ott jerseys/shirts still around is almost sickening. So many people just can't move on. I get that he's a fan favorite and all, but he's not a Star anymore.

Sure ... but if the deal was essentially done last night, he's pretty far off even if he was just saying they weren't going anywhere.

I'm not saying anything against him, I just wonder if Lobo is right they fed him bad info. Like I said, he rarely gets involved with rumors. The dude is strictly facts on most occasions.

There's no way he would post something without absolutely believing it was the complete truth.

My intention isn't to stir anything up, but this is just so peculiar:

Lites: "It got done in ... basically last night in a long conversation between Jamie, his representatives, and ours ... and concluded this afternoon ... and we were able to get it finally done and announced tonight."

You sort of have to conclude they fed some bad info to Stepneski.

Very very very strange, especially after that tweet from earlier.

Either they were trying to keep it under wraps, and with all the "close to a deal" tweets we've seen the past couple of days that turned out wrong..that wouldn't shock me. Or they were purposely feeding Mark bad info, which doesn't make sense at all for someone they want to not "hold back in any circumstance."

The simplest explanation is that he had no new information, not bad information. He inferred that the lack of information meant there was an impasse when it was, in fact, the opposite.

Maybe stars told him to keep it quiet so they can announce it at the game, seems like it would be perfect timing to surprise everyone

Maybe they don't have any other shirts. I've seen people wearing Hatcher jerseys long after he was gone.

That's it. Jerseys are too expensive to retire when a guy is traded.

via Twitter for Mark Stepneski, Benn did not get any bonus money. Therefore, he'll earn about $2.36 million this year (assuming his contract kicks in for the CLB game).

I still wear my Zubov and Belfour jerseys. I can't believe people wear the new ones personally.

Jamie Benn: "I don't know who I'm more excited to play with: Ray, Jagr, or my brother."

There's literally no way Jordie is a healthy scratch, right?
