Good point. People have to remember, Oilers fans aren't expecting a top of the Western Conference spot here. I don't even expect them to make the playoffs, but as you said, being so bad for the last 3 years, the team and fans deserved something great like this to finally happen, even it is three games in. Some people like to whine, but honestly imagine if this was your team, you'd be amped up like Yakupov was tonight also.

Celebration was great. As if the NHL needs another boring stiff who can barely look excited when they score.

Sutters opinion of the officiating.

On all the penalties: ďItís got to be a record for no five-on-five play. Thatís got to be a record.Ē

If it was the right call, then so be it, but the flip flopping from goal to no goal was absolutely ridiculous. If it's called a goal, then so be it.

First time I've seen that. Oils will end every goal with a 3 minute synchronized stars on ice routine.

I can not believe some of the people in this thread. You're right, goalie interference would have been the right call...... if the ****ing ref hadn't pointed to the net and already called it a goal. This is a non reviewable play. End of story, treat it like that. And honestly, goalie interference would have still been a debateable call because Scuderi pushed him in.

If the Oilers hadn't scored again to tie it this would be a huge story for the NHL. Obviously it won't get as much attention but the NHL still needs to look at it.

Unreal finish. The celebration was worthy.

That might be one of the craziest 2-1 games I've ever seen. Both sides had weird calls thrown at them.

The goal should have counted, although the refs weren't overstepping their power by disallowing it. Looking at the replay it should have counted though.

Although Gagner could have got called for taking doughty out right before.

Then again the kings were given a 4 minute PP on the Smid instigator where Nolan dropped his gloves first and threw the first punch. Poorly officiated game. Oilers deserved to win.

Oiler fan logic.
Did he say they deserved it? Don't be mad that Rexall Place on a regular season game has more atmosphere than the Mulletdome in 2004.

Smid went out of his way to go over to Nolan and fight. Refs saw that as instigating.

This game was so bad because of the reffing...

And then 4 minutes left...

It turns legendary.

I honestly loved that celebration. If he does it all the time then yeah it's annoying, but still, can't fault the kid for being excited, that's a big goal and it feels good to score one like that against the reigning Cup champs. Also the Oilers fans are rocking, love that noise in the arena. Haven't heard that in TO for a while.

The timekeeper was laughing after taking a few incoming beers from the upper seats. Yeah he was having fun.

It wasn't goalie interference, gagner was pushed in and then there was incidental contact contact outside the crease where gagner made a reasonable effort to avoid the contact.

I love how angry everyone got in this thread at Yakupov's celebration. The kids got energy, just tied up an intense game, and he's not rubbing it in anyones face. Settle.
