Canucks fan here, no love for the oilers, but that disallowed goal was a dumb call. I get the argument that Gagner didn't do enough to remove himself, but he was pushed in and got his skate caught. Quick practically grabbed his skate with his leg.

That stuff happens all the time and they never call it no goal if the player was pushed into the goalie.

Really really bizarre. Plus, I didn't think they could overturn the call on the ice without going upstairs?

Either way, glad that it ended the way it did for the oilers, even if it means 2 more points in the standings. As awesome as quick was, Oil deserved it tonight and (almost) got robbed.

EDIT: And Yakupov's celebration was fine. Felt good for the kid.

Also the Oilers fans are rocking, love that noise in the arena. Haven't heard that in TO for a while.
haven't heard it like that in edmonton in a while either. Aside from the draft parties that is.

I have a problem with rehearsed celebrations.
That was pure emotion over a messed up situation for a kid in his 3rd game, on the ice in the last minute against the defending Stanley cup champions.

Yeah, I bet he's excited.
As a fan - I love these celebrations.

I'm ok with the celebration just because you had to watch the entire last 10 minutes to understand the context.

The building was filled with emotion after the Oilers got a goal disallowed, it looked like the refs might need to be air lifted out of there, lol, things are flying onto the ice, it's just crazy.

Then with 4 seconds left you tie the game against the defending Stanley Cup champions and the crowd is going absolutely bonkers, yeah I'll give Yak that.

Incredible hand eye coordination too, can't teach that.

People are always going to complain. God forbid there's a player in the NHL who doesn't do everything like a robot

Kings fan, but I think it was a bad call.
Yeah he got pushed in by Scuds, but he didn't stop from running over Quick either.

Don't mind the celly really, but this **** bothers me. PK's wasn't in the moment? Was it in the past or the future when he did it?

Pretty classless of Quick to just lay face down in disgust for a while after Yaks goal. If it was the playoffs I understand, but a january game? Ridiculous.

Just read about the ending, so I hopped to the reply in GCL and watched from the last few minutes in the 3rd.

Wrong call on the no-goal in my opinion, and very much so.

RE: Yakupov's celebration, that's just who he is. I guess I'm indifferent to it, so long as he teammates don't feel like he spurned them to glorify himself, which I doubt they do. Great comeback win.

No reason the Oilers deserved to lose, Kings were 0 for ****ing 8 on the PP including two 5-3's and a double minor. Oilers came up big in clutch time Kings didn't. I thought Yakupov's celebration was a little ridiculous at first but with how that game went and scoring so late he deserved to celebrate.

How is it 'classless'? Is he supposed to get up and shake Yakupov's hand? I get (and disagree with) certain ways of criticizing that, but in what possible way does class come into play?

He's making fun of the people crapping on Yakupov and the fans for going bonkers after getting that goal.

he rubbed it in everyone's face by skating alone to the other end of the ice- "me! me!" quality guys spend the moment with their teammates.

the criteria for an instigator are any of these:
distance traveled; gloves off first; first punch thrown; menacing attitude or posture; verbal instigation or threats; conduct in retaliation to a prior game (or season) incident; obvious retribution for a previous incident in the game or season.

Smid you could argue had:
distance traveled and maybe verbal instigation or threats.

Nolan had:
gloves off first, first punch thrown.

Nolan should have got an instigator as well then.

There is: His name is Sidney Crosby, and people whine about him not showing enough emotion.

Can't be that mad as a Kings fan. Just a bizarre game.

It reminded me of when the Kings beat the Penguins the year after their Cup win. The team and fans acted like they had just won the Cup. It was a big deal for a young, rebuilding team to do that, even if it was a meaningless early regular season game.

All discussion in this thread should now be turned to how terrible Mike Richards has been this season.

on the Gagner no goal: arguing over whether gagner should have gotta a call for a cross check/whether he was pushed it/or whether he tried enough to get back up. Those are all moot points for the fact that the ref called it a goal on the ice. Those issues can not be reviewed. It was a bush league call

The Oilers were 0-8 heading into OT as well... The first fifty five minutes of this game was by no means entertaining.

The finish made the game memorable, but it certainly was not a very good hockey game overall.
