I'm not even worried about hemmer or our top six. Our bottom six has to be the worst in the league. Horcoff can't even win face offs anymore let alone handle the puck, and smyth simply can't keep up. It's really going to be a problem this year because depth is incredibly important, but three games on and Horcoff is the same crap player he's been the last couple of year and it seems he doesn't care.
To me Horcoff seems to care a lot. The bench was as pumped as I'd ever seen after Yak's goal, and Horcoff seemed to really enjoy Yak's celebration. Seems to me like both him and Smyth have really bought into the team game this year. Both know that their job this year is to stop the other team from scoring at 5on5 and on the PK.
Also, I'm really liking the body language from Belanger. I think he's a great player when he's on, I hope he plays well and he remains an Oiler for a while.
It seems like Kreuger really has the team buying into the idea that every one of them is important, regardless of whether their role involves scoring or not. Right now every single player on the roster is getting either PP or PK time, and I think that's pretty awesome. Hopefully it's not just early season exuberance.
Could Ralph Krueger be the best coach weve had since Slats?
What I like about Krueger is how cool he is. Did you see him after the winning goal? - just pan faced, no emotion, job done kind of attitude.
He won't get carried away by the emotion of a single win and by the same token he didn't overreact to that gongshow against the sharks.
I liked the passion he showed following the disallowed goal but he still had the presence of mind to make the right calls in the closing stages.
Still early stages but I think we are on to something with Krueger.
Hemsky is an enigma. One minute im screaming at him as he stands at the side of the net holding on the puck for forever and then turns it over. The next he's making an unbelievable pass through three pairs of skates right on the tape. The guy can change the game with his passing, both ways. If he can ever improve on making a good pass every time he can be a dynamic playmaker. What worries me is that this has been going on for a few seasons with no sign of change.
Read the thread on the main boards. A lot of butt hurt people on there pissed at Yaks reaction.
It is the same people that complained about Crosby not showing enough emotion but whinged about some Russian players having over the top celebrations. You can never win with them.
I see nothing wrong with players showing their emotion, character even speaking their mind etc, it adds to the entertainment. Don't like robotic hockey players.
Great game, I turned it off with just over a minute remaining
Good win for you guys and if you want some more laughs, go over to Calgary Puck and listen to the flame fans hatred of Yaks and his celebration...hilarious....the Flames better get used to it...you guys have a star on your hands for the next many years and with Calgary going down, and you guys going up, it is going to be funny seeing the Flame fans whine.......

Well he gave Steve Smith a pretty good shot in the arm.
I like that he is such a positive person, but seems to keep it very genuine too.

Wow... I read the first couple posts and was going "huh, this seems pretty rational"... That changed quick.
edit: after about 2 minutes there, I wanna punch someone in the face
There's nothing that drives me crazy more than the BS "we play a humble game" from these overpaid millionaire athletes, paid to ENTERTAIN US, when a teenage kid ties it up with 4 seconds left in the game.
All the problems that hockey has, and we're talking about goal celebrations?

It's funny because I was reading CDC and they loved the emotion.
I guess Flames fans just aren't used to an emotionally charged team.
excellent way to beat the refs. all the credit in the world for that. i was livid on the goal take away.
Yak: crusher hand-eye.
Gagner: very nice game. KEEP IT UP.
Hemsky: eh. that's fine.
RNH: had some strange decisions for his type of game but in the end had a genius of an assist on the GWG
Eberle: had a few struggles also
Hall: his game is so messy and fast. the one shift he out ran the LW D and set up Eberle behind the net for the auto-feed to RNH on the rush was a thing of beauty.
Smyth+Horc: these guys look so tired and beat out there

he's pretty locked in. they should try looking into a true LW presence for Yak through trade so Yak can play to his comfort side. who? not sure.

Smyth has been terrible so far. I wish Ryan Jones was healthy. I love Ryan Smyth and everything he has done for the Oilers but he is so slow and seems over the hill in the 3 games I have watched this season. He's been terrible IMO.
One play that I don't see getting mentioned is RNH busting his ass to break up a potential 3 on 1, that play was huge for us IMO. I love how he never gives up on a play unless he has absolutely no chance to make a play.
