P.K. Subban Thread - 7.0 - Great with computers

Continue from here

We know he's important to the team. He's played great for only being in 2 seasons, considering we had a mediocre team on his first season and a terrible one last year.

He plays top minutes against top opposition. Plays on the PK and the PP. Has provided with constant points, again all things considered. And seeing him go would leave us with a huge gap.

If you haven't seen his video resume and want a good laugh despite all of this:

I'm really starting to doubt the new management regarding this issue. Subban is a rare talent. You sign him #NoExcuses

I don't know what the details are. But we need PK. I'd like to think that Beaulieu could become a similar player, but it'll take a while before we're sure about that. Parting ways with PK would leave us with a huge hole that we won't be able to fill with a trade. We're doing god so far. But we're only 3 games in, with a schedule that has been rather calm. Next month, our D will be more to the test when games start being more frequent and challenging as teams will be desperate for wins. We may see some players get injured, which I really hope we don't. Either way, losing PK would be a huge blow. Problem is, what are the details that are holding the signing of a new contract??

5.5-6 M for 6 years is what the PK should get and deserves.

I find it hilarious how some people would rather trade subban than sign him for 5m per. I mean come on who really thinks like this? You're not going to get a fair 1 for 1 trade since his value is at its lowest. Or you can trade him for some first round picks and decent prospect who probably none of them will turn into the player pk is. I keep hearing trade him, ok we've all heard that before but for who couturier? This team doesn't need couturier it needs subban.

Can't he just get the exact same deal as Benn and then we can all be friends yes?

Subban

I overheard some talk at a local sports bar saying the Flyers are indead inquiring about getting Subban, which woukd give them the puck moving Dman they are looking for.
The issue is the asking price which is believed to have been Couturier and Boudron for Subban and Nashvillles 2md round pick. Flyers apparently think it is too steep.

While I doubt the source, the price would have to be high. It would be mayhem if they traded him for something that wasnt an over-payment. It could be mayhem regardless if he is traded.

So he "deserves" to be one of the highest paid defensman in the NHL based on his 2 previous seasons or for what he'll do in the future. Sorry but I want to understand why he deserves that salary?

FYI his future salary should be based on expectation of future performance.

Man..

PK deserves a good salary, but not one of the NHL's top salaries.
PK deserves long-term.

There ya go. Can we stop arguing over these details we have already argued NONSTOP for the better part of the week?

6 years...5mil/year (30mil).
7 years...5mil/year (35mil).
8 years...5mil/year (40mil).

Just do it.
(give him a ''Benn'' contract...we need Subban way more than Benn, imo).

Those who feel comfortable because of Markov's recent play...we've been there before. If Bergevin trades Subban for almost nothing and then Markov gets injured (surprise! surprise! what a shocker!)...we're really screwed...Bergevin is screwed.

Smart GM:
always forecast that Markov is one hit away from missing a full season again...plan ahead of time. Be smart. ****ing sign Subban NOW!!!!!!! I'm getting so pissed off. ****ing sick of this Bergevin/Subban mess...it's making me sick...I have to quit hockey since it's just giving me an ulcer!

Fire Bergevin (unless Bergevin is right!).
Subban is more important to our Habs vs Bergevin (unless Subban is being way way too greedy).

I would love Subban to be signed and helping the team. That said, accusations that Habs management wants to "cheat" or are being cheap towards Subban are ridiculous since the habs are one of the franchises that spends up to the cap limit. Whatever money Subban gets will come off some other current or potential player's salary in the future. As a new GM, Bergevin's got to manage his cap not solely for the short term, but long term as well.

There is something that keeps Bergevin from giving Subban the big payoff RIGHT NOW. I'm sure Subban has his own doubts at the moment. Hopefully, they build trust and come to some understanding. I have a good feeling that it could be settled before Sundays game against the Devils.

I don't think Bergevin should give Subban a blank cheque or trade him. Some here and elsewhere suggest one or the other. Patience is needed.

Edit: I also like to add that Emelin and Diaz turn UFA in a couple of years. Giving the bank to Subban may jeopardize retaining one or both these players. As pivotal Subban is to the defense, he's not the WHOLE defense..

Found another lie about Subban on the internet. I can't believe all these people making up this stuff on him just to make him look like a prima dona.

But even if it's right....it means that PK needs maturity. A maturity that you will SUDDENLY see if he's traded to another team. I prefer to patient with him so he'd have that new maturity with us. Compared to all these other cances we've traded and ended up being not so bad after all hence the years they stayed with their new team.

I really don't see Bergevin moving at all. If there's an agreement, it will have to come from Subban. And from what he had said, you don't see the movement either. Seems to me that it's more a "So....where are we at today" type of meeting. Let's hope it isn't.

Sergei Kostitsyn and Mikhail Grabovski are good examples.

When Sergei was on the team all we heard was that he was a loser because he missed his plane. Since he's left the Habs, he's become a respectable top-6 winger.

That said, I can't believe the losers linked to on that thread.

It better be good news...just glad there's a meeting.

Wonder how long these meetings last?!! 20 minutes? Meehan passes Bergevin a piece of paper with a number on it ...Bergevin laughs after looking at the number...Bergevin writes another number next to the first one and passes Meehan the piece of paper...Meehan laughs loudly...they do this for 15-20min. and call it a day/night (they both look at each other...sigh and burp after all the food they ate...they feel good since at least they tried...they at least have something to feed the media).

Meanwhile we Hab fans suffer with all this ridiculous waiting.
Another **** you to us fans (from Bergevin and Subban) after a huge **** you from the lockout.

Can't wait to see Subban again in a Hab jersey.
As much as I'd like Couturier, Boudron(spelling?), and a 2nd... I'd much rather see Subban in a CH jersey again...he will (with Price and Gorges) lead us to the Cup...he's one of my favorite to watch in the NHL (so entertaining and such an iron-man...I love players that are not injury prone...also good for hockey pools).

Personally, I love Subban; I have a Subban jersey. But I think Subban may have just lost one of his arguments for the big expensive contract that he's looking for and that's his PP performance. Given that the PP was so terrible with him last year and so good withOUT him this year, I think Bergevin can advance the argument that PK is not the PP specialist he thinks he is. If the Habs continue to do well, PK will continue to lose arguments about how "important" he is to the team.

I think he should sign long-term for anything in the realm of 4.5M$. Anything higher will handicap the Habs in terms of capspace.

Take the bridge, in two years he'll be able to get his golden contract.
Really wish we knew the exact numbers.
