I think the last three games have been better than any single game last season. It's like it's a completely different team. I guess there's something to be said of two back-to-back trips to the conference finals? And a healthy Havlat. And new coaches...
What's completely insane is we still haven't seen Burns, Demers and Gomez. I hope Gomez plays as well as we all want him to and god, I really hope Burns comes back.
I think that's taking a moment to sink in. The way this team is playing... and it's missing one of our star defenseman. Crazy talk.
I was inspired to dig through my photoshop file and see if I had any old school stuff. I don't have the original rally potato on my laptop (it predates this laptop, meaning it's probably backed up on one of my external hard drives) but I did find this stuff:
including the original rally item: the Rally Pumpkin
The original Shark O Lantern.
The coolest part about that pumpkin was that on the back I carved out an outline of a shark fin. When the pumpkin was lit it put a shadow on the wall behind the pumpkin.
As others have suggested, I wouldn't mind seeing Gomez given a run centering Couture and Havlat.
Thank you! This seems to make perfect sense. 2 snipers centered by a brilliant playmaker who FearTheFin pointed out was better with 5vs5 primary assists (the stat to judge a playmaker by) than Thornton last year.
Yes it creates a Clowe question, but the question should be "How do we get the most for him in a trade?" rather than "Where does Clowe go in the bottom 6?"
Slowe Clowe has to go, slowe clowe has to go.

I wanted to focus on Irwin and Sheppard.
Irwin is putting together some solid games. Makes me think of Braun when he first came up. I hope that this isn't a cup of coffee thing. Maybe after 5 or so games, they'll look into making a trade of some defense.
In the 2 games Sheppard has played, it looked to me that he improved from one game to the next. Yes, he only had limited time but he looks like he understands the defensive side and is working hard.

Ya I like what I've seen from both of them. Irwin especially of course. To say Sheppard is probably rusty is an understatement and so far he looks like he's on the right path. I dont think sending him back to the AHL would be in his best interest.

The only thing is, that would mean Clowe and Handzus would be on the same line together.

I'm really worried that Sheppard is going to be the odd man out when Gomez makes his debut. I also think he's going to steadily improve and would be wasted in the AHL.
Haha the funny part about that post is that I didnt think the sharks were going to win. so I said I would eat the hat I was wearing if they overcame the 2 goal deficit. Then Marleau scored right after I said that so I edited my post because I love that hat and I didnt wanna eat it.

hahahah that made me laugh
i think this shortened season might benefit the sharks in the playoffs
Stuart has looked very good in his first few games. Few miscues with communication in the Calgary game, but nothing that time and familiarity won't fix.
He has picked one or two spots in each game to go on a rush, and they have all almost resulted in goals. Havlat should have tucked one away against Edmonton or Calgary (can't remember which) and Stuart had a great shot coming in with speed last night that he could have scored on.
Solid defense man with that flash of offense every now and again. Love having him back.
Very surprised the Sharks came back and won last night. Good to see some resilience early on. Not good to see they going down two goals in the 3rd like that.
After the 1st period onslaught and fading out in the 2nd after PHX scored (A softie let in by Nemo.. surprise surprise) I felt this was a signature Sharks loss at home. After the other 2 bad goals PHX scored I felt this was certain. (#2 was borderline goalie interference though, can't totally fault Nemo there.. but 1 and 3 were atrocious)
Of course we surge at the end of the 3rd like we've done so many times before but I didn't see scoring 4 unanswered like that. It was almost like they were toying with them with 10 minutes left. Marleau is on fire, he's like a man possessed. Hopefully he stays this driven and taking advantage of opportunities. I still don't like our PK and sometimes the defense looks lost at times in our own zone, but having Burns and Demers back should only help things. Adding Gomez on the cheap for bottom 6 depth is excellent I feel things are looking good so far, but you know.. I'm gonna stay cautiously optimistic about things. Totally went crazy when Marleau scored the GWG though and made the Yotes got no points.. Clutch!
Defensively I thought Stuart had a really good game
Stuart's been great so far. He's had some serious pep in his step and looks to be playing with a lot of confidence, which I'm sure is due in part to him playing closer to home.
