Ehh, while they did play very well in their role, I don't think we want to make a habit of Shelley AND Sestito at the same time.

Yeah maybe, but I think one of them should always be dressed along with Rinaldo when he is healthy. That is the Flyer way.

Knuble should be ready for next game and Schenn's suspension is up so I expect both of them to be out unless there's another injury.

I'd say McGinn goes out first and one of the goons stay. McGinn can be sent down, they can't

Rangers had a tough game against Boston the night before. If the Rangers were 100% rested, they'd have put up a bigger fight than what we saw last night.

True, which sucks cause McGinn has been much better.

I don't know if I'd say he has been MUCH better. Sestito has played in one game and played fine. McGinn has been fine too. Six of one, half dozen of the other.

McGinn can win a fight as well as play some hockey. Sestito can hit and drop them but much like Shelley he typically goes on to lose. McGinn is also younger and only in his 2nd yr pro unlike Sestito. Going forward i know which one i would choose to keep on the roster (assuming there were not other factors involved in the decision).

Bah! You and your annoying "perspective". What does this honestly contribute to our discussion?

Mainly that Shelley and Sestito would have had it much tougher had the Rangers had a full head of steam. I won't deny that pretty much every player for the Flyers did a great job of keeping the puck in the Rangers zone for a good amount of the game.

But sometimes you get lucky with the schedule.. Hell we've seen the Flyers sluggish after back to back games before.

Although this conversation did quickly shift to McGinn and Knuble.

The equation is not a one size fits all...

Agree not a good habit to get into..works against some teams but not all

Jody Shelley and Tom Sestito are good at their role, period, and for tough guys, they're not half bad players (though Shelley's slowed down so much he doesn't provide any more offence at all). I certainly didn't panic when I found out they were in the line-up. First thing I thought of is "no Rag is going to **** with Wellwood at least tonight."

Sestito should be in the line up over Wellwood 95% of the time. He brings much more to the team than Wellwood does

I like Sestito, but you just hate Wellwood for some reason. And it's not his hockey play.

Offence-wise he's not too far from the truth, Wellwood's had marginally better offence so far (though he's still a prospect).

Sestito is like a 5 minute penalty kill waiting to happen. If it weren't for that I wouldn't mind seeing him in the lineup regularly at all. He's like Shelley but better at hockey. Damning with faint praise maybe, but it's something.

The team plays better with sestito is in the lineup, Just like last year before he got hurt. I think it is worth playing the guy, he is a menace

Wellwood's speed alone makes him better than Sestito. Just watch how fast he gets back on defense when they lose the puck.

I think it is probable that the Flyers will be scoring most of their goals from touching distance to the goalie for a little while.

Thus Sestito may be of equal value to Wellwood being the bigger, more immovable object.

I think we'll win a lot of games when the other team goes to overtime the night before against the Bruins. Rangers had no legs until they had a power play

In every game Wellwood has had an excellent defensive play because his speed allowed him to get back.

That alone makes him more valuable than Sestito or Rinaldo will ever be.
