I was at that game right above where that hit took place. The biggest hit I've ever seen period. It looked like it was in slow motion but the bodies involved in that are huge and you can just imagine how much that must hurt being either one of the 2

Subban

I overheard some talk at a local sports bar saying the Flyers are indead inquiring about getting Subban, which woukd give them the puck moving Dman they are looking for.
The issue is the asking price which is believed to have been Couturier and Boudron for Subban and Nashvillles 2md round pick. Flyers apparently think it is too steep.

I think it is lot to ask for, but he would look good where the Flyers colors

Now that Mez is hurt again... think that increases our interest in him.

Don't want to trade Couts for Subban. Value is probably right, but our team defense would actually be worse in that circumstance. I'd trade B Schenn, Gostisbehere and a 2nd though.

Then in the offseason, sign perry with timonens cap money.

Hartnell-Giroux-Perry
Briere-Couturier-Voracek
Simmonds-Laughton-Read
Sestito-Talbot-Rinaldo/McGinn

Subban-Schenn
Coburn-Grossmann
Meszaros-Bourdon/Gustafsson

Bryz
?

I would do Cousins before Ghost. The Flyers need every half decent defenseman prospect they have.

I'm gonna get blasted for this, but I pull the trigger on Cooter for Subban. Heck, Bourdon for a 2nd is probably weighted real heavy in our favor, too.

Bourdon? Guy may never play hockey again with his chronic head injuries. Sounds like a bogus rumor. Moreover, Flyers didn't want to part with Couturier for Weber....doubt they would do so for Subban. Couturier needs to stay. Schenn is a different story...willing to part to some extent but depends what else the Flyers have to give up...

I'm not an expert on other team's personell, but the Rangers (outside Gaborik) aren't really known as a speedy team, are they? We can get away with 'measured' pinches from slow dmen against teams that won't make us pay for it on the regular.

I honestly think the dmen have been good this year defensively. From what I can see, the PK suffered the first 3 games more because of the forwards than the dmen (Cooter and Talbot have especially been poor there, imo), too.

Offensively; however, they just aren't a threat (at ES or on the PP) and they also are too slow to fully execute Lavi's game plan. That isn't a knock against them (or Lavy), its more an observation of a square peg being forced into a round hole (aka. a knock against Holmgren). Subban is one of the few in the league that could single-handedly make this defense 'fit' into Lavy's scheme offensively, though.

False.

Flyers didn't want to part with Cooter+Schenn+ for Weber. If Homer passed up an offer of Cooter+ for Weber he needs to be taken out back and put down Ole' Yeller style.

Everyone keeps saying this, but I'm pretty sure the asking price for weber was Couturier and Schenn +

Yeah I recall that too but I guess my interpretation is that the Flyers simply do not want to give up Couturier since they turned down trade requests from Columbus, Phoenix and Anaheim with Couturier involved as well....

Flyers do need a D man like Subban..no question but they always value centers much more highly especially one like Couturier who I think will be elite.

Pretty sure that the Flyers offered neither Couturier nor Schenn in their final proposal to Nashville. At least that was what Dreger was saying at the time.

couturier should be untouchable, especially in a deal for subban as we'd potentially be taking a step backwards defensively.

Sean Couturier would likely be the piece going back to Montreal for Subban. Btw 2 other teams have contacted MTL about Subban.

So they wouldn't give up Couturier in all those other requests I had mentioned like Nashville, Anaheim, Phoenix and Columbus and now they are going to panic and possibly give him up for Subban.....I swear I will flip if Holmgren does it....

NO!

You win Cups with players like Couturier, not with players like Subban.

I'd rather take a step backwards this short half season than blow Couturier on Subban.

EDIT:

I suggest we tell Montreal that we're willing to give up two 1sts + Gostisbehere/McGinn. Overpayment? Sure, but we're in a spot here.

If Montreal says no, we offersheet him for 6.00 through 6.50, which has a compensation of 1st, 2nd, 3rd.

If Montreal matches then that's their burden to carry.

You are entitled to your opinion but what do you mean by this? A top pairing d-man has never won a cup?

No. This is how we got into this mess in the first place, by trading picks. Just leave it the **** alone and let the season roll.

A top pairing d-man is not a true #1 d-man.

Subban reminds me more of Mike Green than a younger Kimmo Timonen.

Couturier reminds me more of Brind'Amour.

On top of that the Flyers have traded away a lot and thrown away a lot at the nod of Bobby Clarke to create a locker room atmosphere that they like. Regardless of how Subban has his head screwed on, whether rumors are greatly exaggerated or not, you can't believe the upper echelon of Flyersdom is jumping into this without any kind of caution. It doesn't help that the Canadiens management doesn't seem to feel he's worth the contract he would be getting in Philadelphia should he be traded here. Why give up a guy like Couturier for that?

I would not trade Couturier straight up for Subban. Market wise that is fair, but as far as value within the Flyers' organization it is not.

BSchenn? Yes, reluctantly and begrudgingly, but we can't trade him at this point.

That's my favorite option.
