And yes, a 1st round pick is the bridge gap (considering it is going to be a bottom 10 pick). Kane is younger, has a better contract, and has the potential to be an elite scorer in the league. Lucic is a proven consistent Power Forward, but does not have elite offensive skills or the speed of Kane. Just because Lucic is more of a goon than him doesn't mean it outweighs Kane's upside.
Kane turtled to Chris Neil and got beat up by Nathan Horton

Value is there, but Lucic gives the Bruins their identity.

Doubt either team does it and rightfully so.

Something around krejci works better for both teams if you ask me. Jets need a top tier center, Bruins have a replacement for krwjci in Seguin

I think Lucic is an animal, but I'll take the offensive prowess of Kane over the physical edge Lucic gives.

The gaps between each aren't big either way. Kane is still very physical and Lucic can bring offense. I just think finding the combination that has more offense is the harder one to find.

Helps Boston more as for Winnipeg Krejci becomes a top center for who? Andrew Ladd?

Lucic is a perfect fit for Boston playing a more complimentary role to a lot of skilled guys Lucic is not going to create a lot of his own offense so on the Jets he becomes a significantly lower scorer. Kane on the other hand creates almost all of his own offense (can be argued whether that is a good thing some times) and on out much less skilled roster that is something we need. This coming from a guy who absolutely loves Lucic. If it Kane + for Seguin that's the only deal that would make sense for us.

I root for Winnipeg, great young team headed in the right direction. Kane is fantastic too, BUT Seguin is going nowhere, no matter what the "+" is

I agree. As a Bruins fan, I would love to see Kane on this team, but I also think that both Kane and Lucic are ideally suited for their present teams. I am not sure if there is much to gain on either side in this situation, so it might be best if everything remains status quo.

Reuniting wheeler and krejci could be good. Both had their best seasons playing on the same line a few years ago

I never had that impression so I looked at his fight card and he only has 5 fights since he joined the NHL : Engelland, Cooke, Horton, Hunwick, and Hamonic. He clearly lost to Engelland and Horton who are good but not great fighters, despite having the advantage of wearing a visor.

What makes you think not many players would drop the gloves against him? The Cooke KO?

He does boxing for his off season training as thats always been a hobby of his.

Half of those fights were probably before his 20th birthday.

Probably best that he doesn't drop the gloves for the rest of his career anyway unless special circumstances arrive.

I think Wheeler's best season was played with Bryan Little...

This ^ there is no reason for this trade to happen from Bruins perspective .. Would you trade possibly another Cam Neely off the Bruins ??

Trust me I'm under no illusions that the Bruins would trade Seguin

Neither team does this..

Kane is a faster and more skilled player with higher upside, but Lucic is a rare breed of size, strength and finish. He IS the Bruins identity and fits perfectly with their system and style of play..

Kane may theoretically have more value, but I still don't think Boston makes this deal 1 for 1... If they did, he wouldn't come with a pick.

To be fair, Kane was still a teenager at the time. Kids pretty fearless.

And he fought Engelland as a rookie at 18 years old. Gotta give him credit for that. Not sure a lot of guys fear him really, but he doesn't need to be spending time in the box anyways.

If kane is more valuable its not by much. This habs fan would love to see the trade. Thornton's 34 and slowing. It be up to Chara to do the police work. Our new antagonists will have him in the penalty box all nite.

Lucic and Kane are similar players. Jets fans will some here and decline, Bruins fans will come here and decline.

Ask yourself this OP, WHY would either team make this trade? Similar style players who make similar coin, who play the same position.. ??
I'm with you on every point but the bolded one.

Don't want to hijack the thread but the only other defenceman thats even in the same conversation with Ray Bourque is Nick Lidstrom and that conversation is for the title of 2nd best behind the greatest player of all time in Bobby Orr.
