For me, I've always thought Markov made everyone on the team better. But
obviously his D partner most of all. I'm disappointed I haven't had an chance
to see Subban in that spot. I've often thought he would really gain. So much so
that we should have him signed long term before he looks like a superstar.

I'm so happy for Markov. Even though he might have lost a step, he's still one of the top 10 d-men in the league when healthy. Such a smart, smart hockey player. It's crazy how much of a difference he makes on the team. Our record with & without Markov is night & day. Let's knock on wood and hope he stays healthy this season.

So much for the tank though ...

It's been so long since he's been healthy, so it's easy to forget how valuable he is. He can play the tough minutes defensively and IS our powerplay. I'm happy he's showing he's back to form and hope he can keep it up. Add Subban to the mix and we have ourselves a pretty solid D group.

Quick search for your viewing pleasure. Had to cut it short as I'm leaving for work.

thread is here if any of you would like to look for yourself:

Oh the clairvoyants on this board!

And they get so angry when you have the temerity to question their absolutism.

If we don't see everything with the same shade of gloom and doom then it's obvious we're not realists and are wearing rose colored glasses.

But how many clairvoyants argued that at 5.75 we should have offered him
5 or 6 years. I did. And more than once. So if he continues to play well, I deserve
credit for bigger b**ls.

Never too early. And of course 3 games means little with regard to
the re-injury factor. But unless re-injured his play does demonstrate that
he isn't done. Done is a very comprehensive term.

What if Pacioretty gets hurt tomorrow and his season is over? Anything is possible, Markov will probably get injured at some point as this is hockey, but until his knee explodes he doesn't look finished to me, at least not yet. He has already shown that he can take contact without his ACL disintegrating.

His play so far would still have shown that he isn't "done".

BTW, it's not just 3 games. It's the first time we actually see him 100%, but he's played almost half a season so far since coming back from injury. So injury wise, we're not talking about 3 games, but 37 games. And performance-wise, these last 3 games show that he can still play to the same level.

He's proven the people who said he had nothing left wrong. Let's hope he has no knee issues, either from prior injuries or new ones....or any major injury for taht matter.

Maybe you should wait until he plays against a real team that can actually put pressure and forecheck.

The myth of Markov grows with each day he is not in the lineup.

He is done.

We should have moved on last year, re-signed the Wiz, and have been done with it - but apparently Gauthier is a poster on this board and believes Markov is the second coming of Bobby Orr.

So sick of all the false hope Markov generates.

Most underrated player of the league

Andrei Markov. He is the exact same player than 3 years ago.

Definitly not the most underrated. Let's be honest here. He hasn't played for 3 years. Last year for the few games he played he wasn't very good. The doubters were right to be doubtful.

He's been awesome and I didn't flame him while he was out (and suggested the team had few issues beyond his injury), but I'm worried. He has a move along the boards that he used to do to totally lose people that now frequently results in him getting drilled right in the back. It happened against the Leafs but without injury.

I can't wait to see him and PK play close to a full game between them, if they are first and second pairing the third pair will be well rested, but I'm worried he'll be killed. With luck he will adjust...
