MTL/CHI: Eller for

Eller is in the doghouse and Chicago could use a 3rd line C to replace Shaw (and move him back to wing)

To Montreal: Stalberg, 3rd
To Chicago: Eller

I hope Eller isn't traded by Bergevin, no matter how average his first game is the guy is still a very very solid defensive center that will eventually be a 20 goal scorer and potentially more.

I can't see this trade going over well with Montreal.

If Bickell and Morin combined using some kind of DBZ-style fusion dance, Eller would still be better.

Teravainen and I'd think about Danault for him.

I'd take Frolik as a salary dump if needed to make it work.

No way Habs do this but they would send Eller if Stalberg came back

Gotta take into perspective that Eller is basically all we got back for Halak. I know it doesn't mean anything to opposing teams fans but for MTL fans it does.

I'd do something about TT though. Maybe TT and a 3rd?

TT is not that far off from A Galchenyuk's prospect value.

Would you trade AG for Lars Eller and a 3rd.?

I edited to make stronger point.

I disagree, TT was taken 18th overall, AG 3rd.

Eller was taken 12th overall and has been developed by two teams that develop prospect very well in MTL and St.Louis.

14 teams passed on TT after Montreal drafted AG. AG wouldn't of gone past 5th or 6th if we passed on him. That's a big difference. Plus, TT has been just okay this year and AG has been very good.

Eller is a good player, he went 13th overall when he was drafted. Lars could get 40 + points as a good 2-way centre in the NHL if he got decent line mates and decent ice time.

AG is a super duper prospect who I agree was ranked a little higher than TT.

TT fell due to run on D-men as teams probably made picks based on that which placed TT into Chi's slot. Most likely, if teams would've went by rankings both between their own and Central Scouting, TT most likely wouldn't have gone any lower than 12 at the most.

However, that is moot now and the true story will be told in yrs to come to see if TT can come close to matching AG's NHL performance which I believe will be eller....errr, I mean Stellar.

different style players. I wouldn't compare them.

BUT

For Eller to be moved, I would be asking for something around Saad OR Johns

There was 9 forwards picked before TT and 8 defensemen.

TT is a great prospect and I'd love to have him on the Habs simply for the fact that Timmins is so high on him. However, he does not hold more value than Eller at this time for me and it would still be a risk reward type thing for Montreal.

Sounds like a bogus reason, but Therrien is a kind of intense guy.

coach wants to see more intensity in his game. He'll get there, he's still young and has the work ethic to make the changes asked of him. But he is still sitting due to the team testing AG at centre, and the fact the team is winning with the current lineup.

Again, if Eller is moved to Chicago I'd be asking for something around Saad or Johns

Yeah, some global mod should come along and fix that, wdyt?

I don't think it's the time to trade Eller. Not for prospects, especially. He had one slow game, and now is in that cycle where the team turned it up a notch and won without him, but he'll get back in the mix. No panic. He's on a good deal and still shows good upside, he's a keeper for now.

I don't see the point, really. We should go after a Desharnais or Plekanec before Eller.

He's not. Desharnais and Plekanec are playing on extremely effective lines right now, 5 on 5 and power-play, so you can't break those. Then you add Galchenyuk, a really special talent, who is way passed expectations right now and White centering what is our first real 4th line in the last 10 years. Eller makes atleast 27 line-ups at center position, just not ours at the moment.
