So looks like PHX is not interested in Neuvirth and CHI is not interested in Ribeiro.
How about Neuvirth to CHI for a first?
Ribeiro to BUF for a first and Sundher?
Also, would MIN fans agree if we changed that 4th to 3rd or 2nd?
Would NJD fans agree if we made Perreault/Urbom a straight up swap?

I wouldn't really want to give up a 1st for Neuvirth. Maybe like Pirri and Olsen.

I think if Neuvirth gets moved, it's at the draft. We don't have anyone else in the system who can handle the NHL at this moment. I suppose it's possible he'd be moved at the deadline if Holtby has really staked his claim as the number one, but I'd consider it pretty unlikely. If Holtby's playing that well, I doubt we're sellers by then.

Since Scandella apparently isn't available, I wonder if Phoenix would be interested in a deal around Johansson and Gormley? Maybe with Galiev as the sweetener? This assumes we've got a 2C to make Johansson expendable.

Also, fair warning to anyone interested in Orlov - he shoots left, but plays the right side, and the organization's attempts to try him on the left side haven't been successful thus far.
Yes on Neuvirth on draft day.
Scandella is 50/50 here...
Don't think we need Gormley who is from what I saw more of a puck-moving, offensive type.

I think first is a fair estimation of his value. What if we add a little? Like 4th or some prospect?

Might just be me - but it's unlikely that Ribiero has that sort of value as a trade deadline rental. Recently, 1st rounders for rentals are pretty rare, and then adding a prospect who was drafted in the 1st round and is developing well is significantly more than Ribiero is worth. Maybe if Ribiero was a player whose game translated more to the play-off's (like Gausted) his value would be higher.

From someone who has no dog in the race - Gormley has been looking REALLY good, and I'd be shocked if PHO would move him for a "nice" player like Johansson. Gormley looks like he's on pace to develop into a top pair d-man, and I don't think that the Yotes would move him for less than an potential legit 1st liner.

Scandella is staying with the Wild. He's going to be in their top-4 for a long while with Suter, Gilbert, and Brodin.

Johansson put up 47 points as a 21 year old. He's most definitely a potential legit 1st liner. His value is higher than Gormley's, imo.

From WashingtonTo Washington
  • Mike Ribeiro
  • 1st rd pick
  • Kevin Hayes
  • Marcus Johansson
  • Marco Scandella
  • 4th rd pick
  • Mathieu Perreault
  • 3rd rd pick
  • Alexander Urbom
  • Michal Neuvirth
  • 1st rd pick
  • Jason Chimera
  • 2nd-3rd rd pick
  • Roman Hamrlik
  • Tom Poti
  • 3rd-4th rd pick each
  • Jeff Schultz
  • Jack Hillen
  • John Erskine
  • 5th-7th rd pick each

I'd call this "Operation 2014". 2014 is when Forsberg and Kuznetsov come over (Filip may come this summer, but I don't think he'll be a difference maker right off the bat, he's still very young), Wilson gets ready and our young D get Hershey seasoning. I think that will be the new beginning for the Caps.

2014 Caps roster:
#LWCRWLDRDG
1OvechkinBackstromForsbergAlznerCarlsonHoltby
2Brouwer'13 1st rdKuznetsovScandellaGreenUFA/Grubauer
3WolskiLaichWilsonOrlovWey
4HendricksBeagleWardUrbomKundratek
5UFAHamillMitchell/ HayesSchilling
+ two 1st rd picks and Barber ready to jump in.

Flame away!
Devils don't do that trade. They have a full roster as is and too many NHL defensemen. Wouldn't make sense to trade a promising AHL defenseman for more NHL players.. even with a pick.

Kevin Hayes is projected to be a bottom-6 player. Not that we ask for their top prospect, or even of top prospects.
1st rounders for rentals? Gaustad, Kaberle, Fisher. Last two years.

2 1st round picks for Ribiero? I don't think so.

No chance in hell, we aren't trading a 1st for something that doesn't improve our team.

We can both agree that Hayes isn't playing like a 1st rd pick. But if you'd rather give Nordstrom, I'm ok with it.

Hawks are not giving up our 2010 1st round pick who will be joining professional ranks soon and a 1st rounder for a pending UFA

He has improved his game every year in NCAA ,, Stats dont tell entire story on a prospects development

And Stan Bowman clealry loves the Hayes brothers (He drafted Kevin and traded for Jimmy)

As a Devils fan i think getting Perreault for Urbom would be a mistake for NJ. NJ needs a bigger winger . We already have Teddy and little Gionta as under sized skill players.

I'd move a third for Chimera.

Also, I'd definitely top Scandella and a 4th for Johansson from the Sharks, if need be. Marcus would be a tremendous fit.

New Jersey wants Troy Brouwer or nothing.

Some combination of Tallinder, Urbom, draft pick.

Urbom and Gelinas aren't going to have any shot to crack our roster in the next two years unless they have a legendary training camp or we get decimated with injuries. They'll both be RFA by that time.

Both are NHL ready right now, I'd much rather use them as trade bait and get a young skilled forward than kill a year on Matteau's ELC or sign some scrub like Darche. Janssen and Barch won't be playing come playoff time, even after Henrique comes back we're still going to need bodies.

Ribiero is UFA after this season - I doubt the Hawks give up K.Hayes and a 1st for a rental.

Obviously, my evaluation of MJ was IMO, and YMMV.

Just from my perspective though - I think that PHO probably values Gormley like the Caps valued Carlson a couple of years ago. Would you have traded 20 YO Carlson for a MJ equivelant? I highly doubt it.

And I like MJ - but IMO his upside is as a quality complimentary 2nd liner. Again - just IMO.

Especially considering the price to get him for the full year was Eakin and a 2nd.
