Which FA/Misfits could the NYR sign?

Which players could the NYR target to fill the depth chart at this point of the season? The NYR will not compete rolling just two lines a night.

I suggested Arnott, and another poster brought up Connely. Are there any other players capable of playing in the 3rd line role that the NY Rangers should be looking into.

Sean Avery suggestion in 3...2...1...

You know what's awesome? Hearing people say we need to upgrade a certain position, yet the players they think are upgrades are actual downgrades.

You should have changed the name of this thread to:
Brian Boyle is the reason the Rangers are sucking ass. Everything is his fault.

PANIC!!!!

Brandon Prust was available. Oh, wait...

(attempt at revenge for Gomez. Didn't work. I'll leave now)

Arnott is the UFA that makes most sense. Move Boyle to LW on the 3rd line and go with Boyle, Arnoett, Pyatt

Pray Hagelin can play 2nd line lW. No UFA is going to be more than a 3rd liner.

I think guys that score once a month and then die until they score again are the problem, not the solution.

I'd take a gamble on Raymond for one of our three thirds. Guy was good goal scorer a couple years ago and isn't old. He could need a change and a third is a minimal price to pay if he can pot 10 goals in 44 games.

Arnott seems obvious to me. I don't see what else the NYR can do in this short season that makes sense otherwise.

No way on Arnott, was mentioned as a possibility to Ranger rep over summer, told no interest before Halpern signing. Rangers have a need for four roster spots. A 4th line and 6th D.

Thats a lot to add, but the Devils found themselves in a similar spot and filled the 4th line internally (Bernier, Gionta, Carter) and paid five pieces for Zidlicky who wanted out. Filled a need for a PP QB at the same time.

I've got a feeling some bridge players that may face waivers soon will be traded for, and some more moves in the minor league level to shore up depth.

Right now I see them trading picks for AHL pros to fill roles, and let the kids develop down in HFD. Moves similar to Kolarik for Fererrio, a BC guy that played with Boyle, and under the same program as Kreider.

The Rangers are still not firing on all cylinders.

Lets see them do that for a stretch of games before we try to analyze them and gauge what may be wrong with the team.

We are incorporating over 1/3 of the forward group and they need a few gams to get their crap together.

4 games in, even during a shortened season isn't enough time.

As far as I know, AK46 never signed anywhere. He was arguably the best forward on the Preds last year, and someone I really wanted to keep. If Torts and him can play nice, he'd be a good addition.

I love this idea! Leave it to a Preds fan to be cooking with gas

Seems like the Rangers need bottom 6 forecheckers that can sustain pressure in the offensive zone. Prust, Dubinsky, Anisimov, Mitchell did this for them last year, and the 1st and 2nd line would take advantage or worn out D. Bickle, Rupp, Boyle are not doing this.

They still have Haley in the AHL. I think he'd really change the bottom 6 for them. But he needs to be given a chance.

He is signed with his KHL team till the end of KHL season, he declined to join Florida camp cuz he said he is going to respect his contract and finish the season in KHL. However his season could be over before trade dead-line in NHL so he probably will join a PO team for a PO run

Dom Moore if he decides to play and would consider the Rangers. He has the defensive attributes to not get benched by Torts and he even adds some offense at times.

He needs to earn a chance first. Hasn't managed to do that.

Four games is hardly an adequate sample size for any analysis. Losing Prust and Dubinsky took some of the heart and soul out of the Rangers. Those kinds of guys could help spark the team when necessary. I didn't like some of the new additions but the bottom six isn't the problem.

Over the long haul, the "cure" for the Rangers is already on their roster: Callahan needs to step up and, to a lesser extent, Kreider needs to be better. Just because those things haven't happened in the first four games doesn't mean it won't. The Rangers will right their ship without any moves.
