To be honest, I would probably send him down and replace him with Eller in the lineup.

This is nothing against him as a player but it's just what I would do. But I won't complain if they keep him.

I said the same thing a week ago but after watching him play closely I must admit he belongs here. I understand the fact that he could play an extra 10 minutes but that's in the minors and how much would he really learn from those 10 minutes compared to Being in the NHL. I don't want to burn that 1st year of ELC but you know what who cares if he can learn a few things. Boston did it with Seguin and it worked dam well

I think the advantage of waiting till next year to promote him is that he would have a full camp and preseason to get his feet wet.

I would play Eller and Gallagher and send him down.

If we can challenge Galchenyuk a bit more playing him in the NHL AND provide him a winning environment... I'm all in to keep him with the big boys. It can only be good for his development.

If that makes Eller expendable, then so be it. We've complained for so many years that we lacked high-end talent, now is the time to use our expendable assets to try and make a move to improve our top 6 wingers.

I hope the Devils and the Jets will be less pluggish than our last two opponents. I want Galchenyuk to be tested against actual NHL teams!

It's not like he's dominating these "pluggish" teams yet, and Therrien is managing his ice time very well, way better than I expected. In close games I doubt you will see him as much.

I think the best thing for his development may be to go back to junior & come back stronger ready to win the calder.

Best thing for the Habs is to groom Gally & Gally for top 6 roles because there are a lot of question marks in the top 6 moving forward

I think he should stay. I like the way Therrien is handling him and I think he can learn a lot this way.

He needs camp and pre season? The guy has been playing hockey since September I don't think camp or 2 pre season games against OHL players anyways will make him a better player

That was to be expected

he'll get over that soon enough. He just needs to get used to the speed and find his momentum inside these new settings

It's not by sending him back to juniors that he'll get over that bump. He's ready, all he needs to do is adapt his game (vision) to the NHL level.

100%, takes time. The adrenaline has worn off and now it's time to get settled in and learn the pro game. His talent is undeniable and will rise to the top after he get's comfortable.

I believe Therrien will keep him here because he wants him to progress as fast as possible, so he can reap the benefits of having an elite player in the lineup. The last thing he'd want is to get fired during his 3rd season and having another coach get the credit.

All the more reason why he should stay up...the NHL isn't the OHL

I really like what I saw yesterday from Galchenyuk.. a few of his moves and passes.. really really nice stuff, flashes of brillance, flashes of things to come.

I think he will be super dangerous on the PP when he gets even more comfortable, ala Markov, with his smarts.

I'd send him down. I think he'd benefit from a full junior season, we'd win a year of free agency and we'd use the 43 games left to evaluate who he'll replace next year.

Alex needs to stay.

What kind of message are we giving him if we send him back to the OHL after 5 games?

There's like 20 games left in the Stings season...what exactly would he benefit from more in Sarnia, as opposed to in Montreal?

I would understand sending him down if he was physically overmatched, had trouble keeping up with the speed, seemed overwhelmed...

I haven't seen any of this...I guess to some people, if he's not dominating like he was in Sarnia, it means he's not ready

The message that he is an exceptional 18 year old for getting the 5 games in the first place. That as great as his future looks, a 23 year old Eller will help the team win more games than an 18 year old Galchenyuk. That he'll have the opportunity to try and take Sarnia deep into the playoffs. That now he has more of an idea of what he'll have to work on to be a better pro.

Sooner he burns his entry level deal, the less likely he'll be elite by the time he needs to be re-signed, the more likely there won't be issues with a bridge contract.

If I'm Galchenyuk, going down after 5 games is a blow to my confidence, and I would feel as though I failed.

It would be different if the Canadiens brass told him that he had 5 games here, then he would be sent to Sarnia.

You can't send the kid back.

I really hope Galchenyuk is not that fragile. There will be plenty of disappointment to come, as there is in all players' careers.
