the same policy for every player is ridiculous.every contract situation is different.how bergevin doesnt see that pk is worth somewhere between hedman and myers (4/4.5 mil per) is completely baffling.one other thing ,have you noticed how these so called"bridge "contracts are becoming increasingly rare for the nhl's potential elite?

They renegotiated to the above.

Assume your scenario plays out and Gally does accept a bridge. In the interim he has two 90 point seasons. Now the renewal will cost us substantially more than were he linked long term already. This is why I am generally against this bridging philosophy.
if there's one thing Cup winners have in common in the Cap era it's this, players doing great while on relatively cheap contracts (think Voynov/Quick last year, or Kane/Toews for Chicago).

That doesn't make sense, but should I be surprised.

Does the crow taste any good at this time of the year?
Favoring his right knee doesn't mean using it more favoring it means he is not using it as much.

You have the clause right, but I think your percentage is off. It's 35%, if memory serves.

The first ones to go then should be the hiring of french speaking coaches and GMs for the sake of appeasing the damn media that I have far more issue with than 2 year transition deals for players.

Edler is borderline UFA, bad comparison.

People have a really hard time getting that into their heads.

Carlson is actually the closest comparison, by far.

Agreed, and it might not be such a bad thing. With a cap on contract lengths, I think GM's are well positioned in most cases to sign elite RFAs to reasonable, longterm contracts.

Personally, I don't think Pk at 5M/year is so out of this world. Is it a gamble? Sure, but what isn't? Do you think WASH is loving Ovi's contract right now?

Oh, I couldn't agree more. We have translators these days for a reason. Not to mention, I wager most coaches/GMs would be willing to learn French if given the time. Gionta has been trying to pick it up.

Not saying he should get that deal but just whereabouts he is asking. I cannot see this being held for just term at $2.5M. PK is definitely after a fair bit more money, at least I believe so.

I find that stupidity handcuffs us more than the contracts we sign. Unfortunatly Molson seems like a yes man to the french media
