I never said I'd build a team around him, or even an offense around him. All I'm saying is he's our top forward prospect. He's not getting traded for a redundant often injured 30 year old.

Watson's part of our future core though. I believe in the future we'll be building around a group of Wilson, Watson, and Smith.

Oiler fans still trying to peddle Hemsky away. Some things never change.

The poster that foolishly offered Hemsky for a C prospect never suggested that Hemsky would be the player you build your offense around either. I just figured it was OK to put words in each others mouth. Watson is an average prospect that the Oilers have in Pitlick, and Lander

Actually, most Oiler fans like him exactly where he is....in Edmonton in a secondary role. Now, shoo Flames fan....unless you have something relevant to post regarding the topic

Which is why they're always including him in trade proposals.

Anyway, I already did:

Yeah - I am not 100% sure I make the deal, from a Canucks perspective we'll need to move Ballard (and Luongo obviously) to get under the cap next year but I have a sneaking suspicion we'd be better off moving Booth as well, then trying to find a more efficient use for his cap hit in the open market.

He's a good player, he just may not get the ice time he needs in Vancouver to put up the numbers he's capable of.. and I don't know that a $4.25m 20 goal guy is a great investment in a shrinking cap environment.

Get Weber to talk to Perry and convince him to come to Nashville. Then proceed to trade for him at the TDD for 1st + Prospects + 3rd Liner. Re-sign him.

Why? Because Nino has lit it up in his few games played and can't crack the NYI lineup? Blum was awful to start last year but was shown to handle his own in a couple of playoff rounds.

As much as I know Flames fans would hate it, I could see Glencross or Iginla being dealt to Nashville for pieces like Wilson and Watson at the deadline if Calgary is crashing and burning. Both Glencross and Iginla would fit Nashville's system perfectly

He would when he can be the pure offensive guy on the team, and not the "only one on the team capable of doing anything effectively or consistently" guy. Put him with Erat and Fisher and watch the goals pile up.

I know 2 guys that got punished for nothing that could help Nashville big time. But I don't think they are interested to be scapegoats anymore

With the Flames having a bit of a log jam in the top 6, I can see Cammalleri being available.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that the Predators probably don't have a ton of interest in paying Mike Cammalleri 7 million dollars this year (even if it's prorated) and next. Calgary would have to eat some salary I think.

Easily doable, at least, on a message board.

Kings would be willing to move Simon Gagne or Dustin Penner. You'll have to find the time machine somewhere else, though.

If the Stars are out of it by the deadline Ryder could be available for a rental.

$3.5m cap hit, pure scorer, coming off a 35 goal season. Likely to be other bidders.

We'd be interested in D help for the near future (young roster player or NHL ready prospect)

Is there a potential deal there?

Hence the thread. We'll still have Hornqvist and SK as two guys still pretty young mind you, but we really need more young scorers.

That would probably make our scoring worse for this year, and not improve it much in the long run. Gagner would get eaten alive by Trotz, and playing on the third line (where Trotz would put him), his scoring would drop off dramatically due to inferior line mates. I like MPS, but not at this cost.

Not saying value is awful, just doesn't work for us.

So why would Preds want to trade two upcoming offensive weapons for one inconsistent centre and one player who might not reach his potential?

A better trade would be a defenseman for Paajarvi.

Ellis is being thrown into packages as if he didn't have value lol.

I am sure Philly would be interested in a young offensive D. And they have enough young talent to trade back.
