The word "celly": love or hate?

After Yakupov scored, noticed a lot of discussion over the term "celly," for celebration. Lots of people had never heard it, but it's very common amongst youth hockey culture, like Gino for goal and Apple for assist. Dreger even used it today.

Love or hate? Is this even worth debating? Does it piss you off for some reason? Poll!

Voted "hate it", but my vote is probably closer to "hate it/this is a dumb thing to worry about".

I know it's very common amongst hockey players and personally I'm indifferent, but whenever I hear it I think of...

if you make it 1:35 then prepare yourself

I use it in a joking sense but I don't really care how others use it

hate it and Gino for a goal is just as stupid (and previously unknown to me)
although i would like to see the amazingly wooden and uncharismatic stater of the obvious Dreger using it, just for laughs.

apple however, great.

Don't mind that the word exists...
Just can't stand the mainstream use of the word by media or adults period.

Heard Botchford say it on the radio, and it just sounded retarded. Unless you wear you hat on backwards, please refrain from using it... it just sounds juvenile.

I like it in a sarcastic/joking way. But it is not a word to be taken seriously.

Exactly. If you've played hockey at all in the last few years than I would expect that you've heard it. I can't how many people here hadn't heard it before.

And used appropriately.. i.e. not from mouths of media professionals..

Now.. not so much.

i.e. how would you like hearing Bob Mac and Dreger start using the word 'Brah' into their exchanges on air...

The English language is not in good hands with the younger generations, that's all I have to say.

It really surprises me that people care about such minute things that have no bearing on their life whatsoever (actually it doesnt surprise me, people are stupid).

Tonight on CBC's the National...the word "Celly" is sweeping the nation. We take an inside look at how this word has divided Canadians, families and friends. What is being done about it? How do citizens feel about it? The National starts now...dun dun duh

They should tackle the problem with the number of people who never learned that it's should/could have or 've - not of - first and foremost. Then they can move on to the lazy slang being invented by the younger generations. "Shorten it up, and add a 'y' on the end there... surely that's a hip new approach." lol.
