Or maybe it's the fact that he just won't quit. How dare this guy not want to throw away his dream-career. Doesn't he know that the Isles desperately need that $4.5M cap space? Clearly Wang wants to put this team over the top and Ricky is preventing that.

Your guess is as good as mine.

Yea...you know...or maybe its the FACT that he is statistically one of the worst, if not the worst, goalies in the entire NHL. I really wish some of you would get off his jock. I dont care what he signed for or how many years hes here or how many times he gets hurt. I hate him for one simple reason: HE SUCKS AT GOALIE. Every time he starts it gives us a greater chance of losing.

There are too many of you who love mediocrity and a 'good story'. I dont give a **** about either. I care about wins and putting in the players who give us the best chance of doing so. DP does not fall into that category whatsoever.

You do realize that he actually hasn't even played enough the last few seasons to have any effect on the Islanders?

Also, Marty Reasoner SUCKS too, do you boo him mercifully? Probably not.

I think we have a good shot to win this game, unlike what most people think actually. The team has been so good the last two games that I think we will put up 4+ goals again on the board and it should be enough.
two statements in direct contradiction. Ricky doesnt roll with the w...not his style.

maybe the reason he's still here is because the fans haven't beaten the dead horse enough.

take it to the DP discussion thread man.

This is going to be one of "those" games.

The Islanders looked horrible in the first vs. the Leafs.

Now take out Nabby, put in DP, and change the opponent to the Bruins.

Exactly, the mental picture is bad. Real bad.

Winning this game, for this organization and fans, would be tremendous. The amount of positive press the Isles would get would be fantastic.

With that said, reality says that the Bruins will dominate the Isles. We just aren't good enough. Yet. And that's ok.

But putting DP in just adds salt to the wounds. Fact is, he sucks, and the team can't afford to go to bat with this guy.

His presence has an effect on this team. I don't think too many people dislike RDP the PERSON. But, as a hockey player, he negatively affects this team. If they had the WAR stat in hockey, there is no doubt that his would be negative. He's played 42 games in the past 3 seasons. That's enough to have an impact. And that doesn't count ancillary impact from the perspective of the rest of the league that we are still giving this guy starts. If the whole Nabby thing never happened, RDP would be starting because you know Snowang would have not grabbed a capable starting goalie.

The league thinks we are a laughing stock, and he epitomizes it. It is unfortunate for him. I get he bleeds blue and orange, and I respect that. If he cared so deeply about helping the team, he would join the booth or some other level of staff.

That's cute. Can't even give us the back up lol

Well, here's to hoping Dp doesn't look like a total clown tonight. What are the odds he lets in the first SOG? LOL

I'm going to need a ton of alcohol for this one.

Just out of curiosity is Boulton injured or just a healthy scratch? I think the game against NJ it felt like he didn't play the last period and a half so I assumed he was injured.

All that being said if Finley plays they better dress 7 defensemen.

I think Martin is going to get payback on Seguin as well for messing with his girl.

maybe, just maybe this teams fortunes start turning around, and a win with dp in net would be a step in the right direction. maybe the arena news was just the begining of good things for us. could u imagine if dp plays the best game hes played since 06-07? thad b amazing, but the reality is that he may let in 3 quick ones, and it ends up totally breaking this teams back. lets hope for the best, lets hope jt, grabner, moulson, etc keep up the fire power

Looking at the Vegas odds, they are truly not that bad. With DP in net and the Isles playing last night I would have thought the Bruins would be at least -240 (2.4 to 1).

But the actual line is

Bruins -180
Isles +160

Maybe Vegas knows something we don't?
