and i'd personally give up picks before i gave up coots or schenn since we're likely not going to get picks that high again without a trade.

Minus the "better defensively" theory, you just described Mike Green.

Hopefully we offersheet him.

Fair enough but check the habs line up lately, they arent as small as you think they are. Of course having Gallagher and Gionta hurts the average.

???

Nobody match the energy of Subban and he just throws big hits like Green never did and will never do.

Green is offensive, Subban is offensive, defensive and physical.

This is why Subban is a special player, he does everything well at a very young age.

No way they should trade Couturier for him but I wouldn't mind Schenn or Read getting moved.

Schenn won't be moved. Hopefully neither will Couturier.

If we had kept JVR, we could've moved Schenn for Subban at this point, but that ship has sailed.

Green can't be that bad considering he was a Norris trophy finalist two years in a row. What's the best Subban has finished?

Could you make it more obvious that you haven't watched Green in the last 3 years?

Green has definitely come a long way. It helps that he now gets some semblance of support from the forwards on D, but more importantly he's toned town those aggressive, mostly pointless hits that often left him out of position. He's pretty good defensively (well, I haven't seen what he's doing this season), and I was once a big detractor of his.

Yeah, maybe the caps will tank this season and go into all out sell mode.

Are the Flyers hands being forced to trade or sign a Dman now that Mez is out for a month?

I think we're at the contract limit so a signing won't happen. We'll probably rely on one of our plethora of spare dmen.

Am I the only one who thinks the defense has for the most part played well? This team has given up only 3 even strength goals in the first 4 games of the season. The PK has looked better the past two games and Bryz has played really well...giving up goals hasnt been the problem, scoring them has been.

I am not against adding defensive depth, but i dont buy into this "we need a number 1 defenseman!". Shop your second round pick and bring in a solid number 3/4 who can fill in, like they did with Grossman.

I am not against getting PK, but I dont think they should shell out guys like Coots or a ton of cap space for him. Young, "potential" number one dmen are getting ridiculous contracts these days...I think its much smarter to bring in a reliable underrated dman.

Erik Karlsson won a Norris and he plays 4th forward, so it's not exactly an indicator of how good someone is defensively.

Looking back at (I don't know what the exact rumored price was) the summer I think I would given up couturier and a couple of draft picks for weber.

Or maybe Karlsson is better defensively than you give him credit for.

I'd love to throw something like a 1st + McGinn/Wellwood at Calgary for JayBo at the deadline honestly. Maybe they'd need more for him though because he's there defense at this point.

Maybe they tank for a high pick though. Who knows.

Nashville was believed to have asked for Couturier, B. Schenn and picks.

I think tanking is Philly's best option.

Okay that makes sense then. If it was just one of them and the picks I would of have had a hard time turning it down and I'm high on both players.

I would love to see Seth Jones in O&B but I rather make the playoffs and at least have a chance to win the cup.
