His presence has an effect on this team. I don't think too many people dislike RDP the PERSON. But, as a hockey player, he negatively affects this team. If they had the WAR stat in hockey, there is no doubt that his would be negative. He's played 42 games in the past 3 seasons. That's enough to have an impact. And that doesn't count ancillary impact from the perspective of the rest of the league that we are still giving this guy starts. If the whole Nabby thing never happened, RDP would be starting because you know Snowang would have not grabbed a capable starting goalie.
The league thinks we are a laughing stock, and he epitomizes it. It is unfortunate for him. I get he bleeds blue and orange, and I respect that. If he cared so deeply about helping the team, he would join the booth or some other level of staff.
Sorry but it's really not. That equates to 14 games a season. If you honestly believe that Rick DiPietro is the reason the Islanders haven't made the playoffs since 2006-2007 then that's thee most absurd thing I ever heard.
Hopefully the islanders players don't lie to themselves and realize Ricky just isn't a good goalie anymore and do all they can to hustle, play great defense and block as many shots as possible if that happens and we score when we get the chance and a few power plays come our way then we can win. A lot needs to go right tonight...we will see if that happens. My guess is a loss but I always have at least a little bit of hope in me...can't help it want this team to succeed so badly.
Because we are playing back to back games and need a 6th defensemen you can feel comfortable playing 10+ minutes(especially in the 3rd period we will really need that 6th defenseman when our top 4 starts getting tired)
Just saw Rick walking in to the td garden in the pre game...looks like such a fool
I'm a DP supporter, but yea, he looks ridiculous. I hope it isn't one of those "I'm not shaving until I stay healthy for a full season" type thing because, well, yea.
Does anyone kno when bailey and joensuu are suppose to return?
Right after Bailey's surgery, it was reported he was walking around with a small bandage.
Someone (Staples I think), said that Bailey wanted to start skating a couple days ago, but the isles told him to hold off until the team returns from this road trip.
Sounds like his procedure was pretty minor and he's close to returning.
