Actually I like the idea. Put Ovechkin on a line where he understands that he has to keep the game simple. Everything funnels to the net. I'll take 8 for 1G 1A tonight.

Lol watch these lines work and we keep them the whole season.

Oates is obviously sending a message to his captain and the rest of the team because he is not honestly trying to find line combinations by putting your best forward with two 3rd/4th liners even though i love Beagle and Crabb.

Oates wants them to earn ice time and he thinks Beagle and Crabb have earned it.

Uh, no. There's Shining crazy and then there's this.

Crabb did have extensive experience flanking Bozak and Kessel in Toronto. If this suddenly turns into Zubrus-Clark 2.0 I will **** myself

I think honestly it's more bad then good.

I play hockey and if my coach put out are lowest level players on the first line I would be furious.

I love 4th liners getting chances. I have been more impressed with Beagle driving at LW than Ovi this year.

Oates is probably promoting the guys playing his system best.

This should help with the recent entertainment value, thats for sure.

Perreault earned his and he's scratched.

This is like when MacLean benched Kovalchuk to send him a message and the team promptly got owned. This season could not be more similar to the Devils' lost season. Maybe if Backstrom sprains his ankle and is out for the year.

8-9-20
17-19-16
Chimera-90-Ward
26-83-15

Not.

That.

****ing.

Hard.

Both Schultz and Erskine is idiotic. Pick 1 of them and 1 of Potilik

If they are outplaying the top tier players than they deserve it no matter how skilled they are.

Oates logic... 83 and 15 looked like our best players last game... therefore they should be on our top line with our superstar

I will say that I'm interested to see 27-52, and I'm at least glad Carlson is with Erskine not schultz...other than that...yeah those lines.

Panic button time?

I can't wait for it, Ovechkin sick pass towards Green gets taken by Beagle or Crabb and dumped into the corner.

Great logic btw?

Can't score with 2/3rds of your best offensive players on same line?

Make 3 lines with 1/3rd on each!

It's disturbing. I hoped his calculated-ness would somewhat preclude stuff like this. Scratching Perreault is the right move though.

The Devils got Adam Larsson that draft then went to the Cup finals the year after... I'd be OK with the Caps doing something similar

Lucky that Kovalchuk didn't get that pass. Beagle was retarded there, I don't know what he was doing there, he just was standing there looking at the puck.
