Only thing to read into is that he's not living on his own which could mean he hasn't been told he's staying here.

A lot of players take in young guys. Didn't Crosby live with Mario for like 3 years or something? I don't think it means he is or isn't staying. Would love to see him get a goal tonight though.

He hasn't gotten that fabled call from Lou yet, like Mottau did.

"Hi Mike, it's Lou. Buy a house." *click*

First, Greene has a solid claim to being our #1 right now. He and Fayne are our best all around pairing. That means he is unlikely to be traded.

Second, Cole is a defenceman, and we already have eight NHL calibre defencemen. We don't need more, we need to trade some away. If we trade a defenceman it will be for a forward.

Third, the Devils plan to be a playoff team this season and will not be trading veterans for younger players unless they are out of it at the deadline.

"The clear came so early it's an icing call"

That would be "late" Steve, not early.

And that is now one of my favorite stories ever. I am curious if Tedy continues to stink it up the next two games whether that factors in to whether Lou keeps the kid here. From what I've now gathered we can still send him back to the Q at any point, the only thing lost after 5 games is the 1 year on his ELC. Also wonder if Butler might get a shot at some point.

I feel like we really need to get Clarkson and Zubrus re-signed. They are essential to the Devils forechecking strategy that pins the other team in their own zone. They are both so strong on the puck. Zubrus is a master along the boards and Clarkson uses his body and long reach to shield the puck as he stick handles towards the net. Hopefully, Clarkson can give a bit of a hometown discount since Lou is the one who plucked him from undrafted world. Zubrus should get a modest raise just out of respect, but he can't expect too much, when you compare his point totals to comparable players salaries.

I hope Matteau becomes a Zubrus clone, a Zubrus type player is always what the devils need

I think we need to keep both. Zubrus should not get a raise though. He's an aging player, and aside from Salvador you can't really find many instances where we gave older players like that a raise. I think he should get $2.5 million for 2 years, but $3 million I can't complain. A modest raise for Zubrus would be $4 million which I figure is what Clarkson can get.

You want Zubrus for $4 million? Just a year ago many people on here were complaining about what Zubrus was making on this contract. You really won't want him for $4 million.

I think the constant benchings have broken Tedenby, he's clearly playing not to make a mistake now. He's done.

I think after tonight's game Josefson deserves a spot in the top 6 on Sunday.

"We left the L.A. Kings and the Stanley Cup Final really disappointed, but we had a great taste about success, what we achieved," Brodeur said after stopping 26 shots in a 3-2 overtime win against the Washington Capitals on Friday at Prudential Center. "I think we're jumping right back in it. It feels like it. The guys, the conversations we have, it's like we never left each other."

Marty is definitely confident, and apparently the rest of the team is too. Like to hear these kinds of things.

Devils need to consider sitting Marty! He's given up two PP goals this season!

I had a feeling we would either see a shaky Marty like early last season, or he might surprise, and start like we haven't seen him start in years. I have to say 3 games in he's surprising. Good rebound control, positioning has been great, hasn't given up any goals he shouldn't have, makes the impossible saves. He was screened by almost everyone on the ice on that second goal tonight.

He had a 921 save percentage, and 2.05 GAA from all star break last year to the end of the playoffs. That's like top 5 in the league during that stretch combined.
