Yep we have no need for a physical top pairing Dman.

This is a good move. Gardiner has looked horribly lost. Gives him some time to get his head back in the game.

Guys, I don't know what player you've been watching but Gards looked like he was out of his league last night against the Islanders. Same with Franson. We shouldn't rush Gards into situations in the NHL when he clearly needs some time in the AHL. Hopefully, when we comes back up to the NHL he'll be ready ... and not play as poorly as he did last night. That was unacceptable. I say this because I expect a lot more out of Gardiner.

He's getting sent to the minors because he needs to work on his game. I highly doubt we are making "room" for anybody...hehehe

Sending him back down to the Marlies so he can play in all situations 5 on 5, pk, pp and get his legs going again. With the short season there is no room to ease a guy back into the lineup. If this was an 82 game season you can afford to bring in along slowly but not in a 48 gamer.

Also in the AHL there is more practice time in between games which is what he needs

He will probably be back up in 10-14 days once he is back to full speed.
He's just not ready ...man.

Franson was a bigger liability than Phaneuf was last night. At least Phaneuf is a bit of a **** disturber.. Frason looks like he's lost, and on his way to being our next turn over machine (taking over for #2)

He's been pretty bad. Sending him down isn't a bad idea.

I was expecting a sophmore "slump" before his injury.

Good to see that Management / coaching has recognized the potential for him to regress and have sent him down for a few games. It will do a load of good to gain confidence and I expect we see him back soon

This was needed. Last night was probably his worst game ever as a Leaf. The guy is clearly not in form following the injury.

Don't let your dislike for a player or the team he is currently affiliated with cloud your judgement. Subban would be an AMAZING addition to the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Ok maybe pretty good was an exaggeration but he doesn't look out of place. Not like he's turning it over every 5 seconds lol

Agreed! But unless we trade for him looks like it's not happening

I think he's played well with Phanuef, but IMO his decision making on the PP has been very poor.

Liles-Phaneuf should easily be the #1 unit.

This article sort of fits what we have been discussing and why not trade him to us.

http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/2013/..._negotiations/

The contract dispute has many thinking that Subban could be traded and on the popular sports betting website Bodog.ca there is a current prop wager asking: “What will happen next for P.K. Subban?”

The odds that Subban will play a game for the Montreal Canadiens this season are –200.

The odds that Subban plays a game for another NHL team this season are +150.

This makes sense for him. For the first time ever, he looked as gassed as I've ever seen him since coming over to the Leafs. And I mean, fully expected. It's not like something where you can at least keep your conditioning top shape, he was out for a solid month with a week to get back, and not back to the AHL level either. This will give him time to regain his composure and conditioning and he'll be right back up.

He played his last game 1.5 months ago..so I'm happy he's getting a bit of conditioning.

He'll be back before Feb.

Have you seen the amazing passes Kessel was giving him last night? Kostka either fanned on them or didn't shoot at all. He's horrible
