Split up Weber and Subban because they wouldn't work as a pairing, but wow, that D is unreal. I would actual say we trade Ellis+Watson+ or something for him and throw Blum on pairing 3 instead.
Don't trade Watson! He will be a big goal scorer in the NHL in a few years. Then you guys will be whining about how we had him and let him go score 30 goals a year for team X!

plans don't alays work out. years ago the plan was weber-suter-hamhuis-klein-franson-parent with zanon. 2 are left. I would bet one one or two out of josi-ellis-blum-ekholm-bartley turn out good. and then 3 years from now we will have another crop of 4-5 dmen, and so on and so on

3 good ones, 2 steady D-men. Bartley needs to improve his strength and skating. He has a killer slapper from the top of the circle. Blum has been throwing some nasty checks this year. I haven't seen him do that before. Keep Weber to anchor the D.

you are missing my point about putting stock in what we have and not to put full belief each will reach their potential with the preds. I have no doubt they all have the skills to make it, but they all won't make it in Nashville. That Franson-Parent pair is awesome for us.

That team is worse than our current one, with a worse farm. 2nd trade is brutal. I wouldn't trade Smith alone for that package. 1st one is ok, but together, this does not make us better.

We don't need Subban, especially if it's going to cost one or more of Wilson, Smith, Watson, 1st that would be reckless. We already have a fine core of young defenders we need to focus on offense.

what is the obsession with Ryan O'Reilly? He is a young two-way forward. Whoopty-do

Yep. Radar isn't just a two-way forward. He would be tied with Erat for the best offensive player on our team (already, he's still young) and would also be one of the best defensively.

That said, I would rather spend the assets on someone not as strong on D and better on O.

If we do that, I'll see you guys in September, because that team won't even be competitive for a playoff spot.

Those deals just don't work. None of those players are upgrades and we overpay on both.

Blum Hornqvist Watson 1st for someone

i keep trying to think who we could even trade for and I cant come up with anybody. I just dont see any teams willing to deal right now unless its absolute overpayment. Considering our need is a 1st line forward. Or two...

1st line forwards don't hit the market very often, if ever. If they do, there is something wrong with them (age, contract, injuries, chemistry problems, etc). I'm still wishing we had chucked out the money for Alex Semin this summer.

Erat had a better season than Semin last year. AND that was Semins contract year playing along with Ovi and Backstrom. Id rather have Rads back than Semin. Semin is an extremely streaky player who cannot play ANY defense. Hes got an insane shot but thats it. A 1 trick pony.

EDIT: Semin also only has 1 assist in 3 games so far. He also got demoted from playing on the canes 1st line to the 2nd line. He has been extremely invisible in the 2 Canes games i watched this year.

Oh, and I really wish we had kept AK too. I know Rads was going back to Russia whether we wanted him or not, but AK would have been really nice to keep. I don't think he was a problem here.

The type of offensive talent that we need, not many teams would be willing to give up. I think we have to develop it or get it in the off season.

How so? He played on the third line in Colorado right? Hardly an offensive juggernaut. Stastny is alot like Legwand and Duchenne didn't have a good followup to his freshman campaign. I ust don't get it

Who in the Western Conference would actually trade with us to give us the help we want?

Colorado rolls 4 lines , similar to our system.

Isn't Stastny more of a finesse , playmaking guy, where as Legwand is a big two way forward with slightly above average offensive upside?

Duchene is killing it this year and is playing with more swagger , like C. Wilson

I don't think it's a matter of who will trade with us, I don't think we've got that many enemies, but a matter of how much are we willing to shell out for a top liner. A lot of you guys seem willing to send out some really nice forwards in order to get another young promising defenseman in Subban though so I imagine it'd be more of the same for a forward.

If we end up trading away Wilson, Watson and a 1st for a top line player, which would be really nice, it's kind of like moving one step forward two steps back. We finally get a player who'll score goals at ease, but we trade away the pieces he was going to eventually play with.

We add 30-35 goals but subtract 15-20 from Wilson, is it really worth it to trade Watson and likely another potentially nice forward with the draft pick? You know what I mean?Would we be better off?

That's why we find a team that needs young d. But has a surplus of good offensive forwards.

Trade any of our young dmen but Josi and a decent prospect like Latta/Watson/Salomaki/Beck plus a 1st. That could get us something. What idk
