The talent is there, they are just so far in their own heads that they wont shoot the puck. They are looking for the pretty passes.

Nice powerplay!

At least Quincey played reasonably well that period.

Cleary needs to be waived.

I can practically hear Bill Clement telling the Wings to "take the yardage, oops wrong sport" right now.

No possession, terrible transition game… Wings need a talented defenseman or two badly.

Another dire period, but at least no goals against. Hopefully we'll see more 5 on 5 hockey in the 2nd.

We NEED PK. Get er' done Kenny. Why the hell is Brunner still on the point for the PP? Put him at wing on the 2nd unit and tell Cleary to take a hike.

Is there any hope that next years roster will be much different? Worthless special teams, another year of Bert KFQ Sammy, Cleary will probably be resigned, ggghhhaaa I can't take it.

This is so depressing to watch. I live in Calgary as well and it is scary similar to situation here. Stars are getting older and GM failing to acknowledge teams decline and rebuild accordingly.

Zetterberg and Datsyuk are both getting old, 32 & 34, past their prime. Perhaps they are satisfied, how much more fire can there be within at 34 after winning a few cups already?

What is there besides dats & z, Filppula?
Btw where is Nyquist at? Did he fail at NHL level?

I don't get how you can go on a 1:30 PP and NOT do a single cross ice pass? 100% of our passing is around the perimeter. Just passing it in a pentagon around their team, never forcing the inside play.

ON A FIVE ON THREE. THAT'S FIVE. VS. THREE.

And no one even tried to take it to the goal. Just, herpaderp, pass along the outside, never take it inside. zzzzzzzzz.

Bertuzzi has got a burr under his saddle, liked that run he took at Suter as time expired.

Cleary could not possibly suck any worse.

There is no valid reason Emmerton should be in this game over Eaves. Eaves should be with Helm on the 3rd, Abdelkader centers the 4th. Eaves has better speed, will use his body and can kill penalties. Emmerton can't do any of that or anything else.

Datsyuk is starting to get his game going.

If I see Franzen or Flip do another curl away/stick swing at a player with the puck rather than at least bumping into to the guy I'm going to lose my ****.

The Wings need to sign the Bearnstein law firm. They need someone smart and tough. Richard Bearnstein could run the powerplay

You guys are going a little overboard for one period. I know it feels like we're losing, but it still says 0-0.

Just seeing the glass half full right now, give it another 20 minutes

I kinda hope either we dont make the playoffs and Kenny really sees how bad this defense is and really works some magic or Kenny steps down and The Captain takes over and revamps the team.

There's plenty of talent, coach em up. I think its going to take a while to gain some cohesiveness and for guys to hit their grooves, but right now they don't look like they have it together.

and yes, theres plenty of weaknesses too, but they shouldnt be this bad. It's up to babcock to get what he can out of this team.

Datsyuk isn't in robot mode yet, Z has been strong, Franzen is playing with aggressiveness. Would like to see Filp get it going more. Brunner has potential and Helm is an elite PK-man. Kronwall looks unsure of himself, but I have confidence that he can find his game and just be himself. I do like Ian White. Bert isn't anything sexy, but he's strong on the puck and accounts for wins via the SO.

Cleary has gotta go, his legs cant handle it anymore. Quincey is trash. Sammy hasn't bothered me so far, but he's a stopgap player for us. Abdelkader, solid. I used to hate emerton, but I've liked what I've seen from him this year. And of course Howard can make the saves that we need.

The PP is too timid. They literally passed it in a square about twice during the 5 on 3 and nobody took charge of it. Brunner, Franzen, Filp, Dats, Z across 2 PP units should put up goals. That's on Babcock to get through to them, the talent is there.

I doubt that Y will just quit and run here as soon as there is a spot

I thought the same thing. The break has been good for him, I guess. To my surprise it was him, Cleary, and Flip that had our best powerplay chance of the game.

Franzen seems to be engaging with his body, as well.

Mandate from coach? Tired of playing terrible? We'll see.

At least Q hasn't humiliated himself yet in this one. The D is actually doing its job. They wouldn't have to block so many shots if the offense could hold the puck for more than 2 seconds at a time.
